Playstation 3 Motion Controller + Eye Announced

Just happened at E3.

This controller looks like a great compromise between WiiMotion Plus and Natal.

The tech demo was very interesting. Wii may end up having the most limited motion control hardware of the 3 consoles in the end.

I think it's going to be a great compliment to Natal. I'm really excited a lot to see what both of them can do when they're released.

One of the few reasons I liked the Wii was because at the time, it was the only motion control console. It was its own thing.

The concept, though still in early stages, looks like it contains substance, and the demo truly demonstrated real motion capabilities. Compared to Natal, it looks like an actual project that will turn out to be a reliable product while Natal looks like a romanticized vision of motion sensing gaming.

IGN recently claimed to play Burnout with the Natal and that it was great. I'm still not convinced that it will be as practical as it promises to be-- I see way too many flaws facing it. Sony's motion sensing approach seems to currently be at the level of what motion + is capable of doing, but I think that it may surely surpass it, also considering the eye-toy.

I still think gaming isn't ready for high-grade motion control. I love Sony, but I shall remain skeptical of any new hardware until I see good games utilizing them in a way a normal controller couldn't do.

Very impressive. But I feel ultimately Microsoft has the upper-hand, they can easily do everything Sony did with their Natal technology, can't they? It's just about guaranteed that Microsoft will make some kind of motion controller accessory with Natal while keeping the whole "no-controller" thing integrated and available, why wouldn't they? Just how business works, all three are trying to dominate this motion control arena, Microsoft with the most impressive technology.

Don't we all. I'm actually a sarcastic jerk towards anything, even to things that I enjoy. I personally don't care all that much for Xbox or Playstation. The reason being is that Nintendo at least has some variety, and not mainly shoot-em-up or RPG games. Now don't get me too wrong, I enjoy the occasional RPG, but I'm personally not too fond of FF or KH myself.

That and I got a 360 mainly for Rare's games and Oddworld: Munch's Oddyssey, and PS3 is too expensive for my tastes.

Natal is definitely higher up on the "wow" factor, but this looks like it's going to be a capable, accurate product. Not entirely sure Sony even needed to do this, but it's welcome nevertheless. I'll probably be buying one, if some interesting games decide to integrate it.

But this basically confirms something: Nintendo have pioneered innovation yet again. It looks like now more than ever, motion control is likely to be a mainstay in generations to come. Instead of crying "rip-off!" with the announcement of Natal and this controller, people should instead look back on analog sticks and wireless controllers, and give Nintendo some credit. Like it or not, motion control is most likely truly the next step in control, and the announcements at this year's E3 really drove home that fact.

I loved it. I found the double remotes to be extremely creative and a smart move in terms of what is now possible. The way they used and reloaded the bow was especially cool.

Eh... I don't really know what to think of it. It kinda looks like a more accurate WiiMotionPlus.

I was impressed with how accurate it seemed to respond-- however, I don't know how many buttons the thing has, but you can't use it with a regular controller, so they'll have to deal with lack of buttons somehow.

I did also like when he was swinging the ball and chain around. That was pretty cool.
Also, I'm surprised there haven't been more "magic wand" jokes.

It was alright. I am just excited about the games.

I guess everyone wants a piece of the Nintendo cake. Anyway, the PS3 "wii-mote" look amazingly accurate. makes me wish Nintendo would work a little harder on "quality" now-a-days. Lets hope wii-motion plus can even or surpass Sony/microsoft.

I think it's funny how everything is going motion controlled now. In my opinion, motion control isn't that great. I like my old school buttons.

However, I think playstation's is the most promising. All the easyness of the wii controller with the 360's nadal camera. So...now it's got a good quality camera, a precise controller (looks to be more precise and sophistocated than the wii) and a microphone. Seems like the ultimate in motion control, for this generation anyway.

I'm excited!
