Looks great. I'd prefer they price it at $39.99, but I'll buy it either way.

You know, I wish they'd just drop on stage demonstrations in general, or at least limit them to Wii sports. They're never flattering for the product or the people playing the product.
That trailer is great, I was worried that the level design would be basic and bland because it's a B-team and they could use multiplayer as an excuse, looks great though.

Platformers! <3

I'd be more excited for this if it wasn't a skin of New Super Mario Bros. with co-op. It's an exact skin, right down to the graphics and level themes, everything looks exactly the same.

It still looks pretty basic and bland to me, but I guess I'm being too hard on it. NSMB was one of those games I really didn't like at first, but it grew on me.

I agree with Kee.

First thought: Oh my god that horrible music is back.

Second thought though: The Wii hardware allows the polygons to seem a lot less cold and lifeless than the low res DS game.

But yeah. It still looks like the same uninspired, definitely not classic Mario stuff that was in NSMB.

Still, NSMB was pretty fun.

And the content arguement: Unless Nintendo pulls a Super Mario World on us, don't even try that. We're talking 8 worlds with 4 levels each, same as the DS game. I hope they pull a Super Mario World on us, because that's what I want in a Mario game, but judging by the uninspired world maps and levels from NSMB, we'll be lucky to get that.

I hope they improve the power ups as well and yknow, let us actually use them this time, in NSMB you pretty much never got to use mini/giant/shell : /.

Make a sentence out of these words:

Huge. Waste. Time. And. Money. Of.

I enjoyed NSMB a lot, even if it wasn't deserving of all the praise it got, but this is bland, uninspired, and unattractive. This is nothing like NSMB. I do not mean this in a good way. It's main selling point is 4 payer co-op. This is not a main selling point for 2009.

I'm sure it can also be played single player as well. Nintendo wouldn't **** that up. No way. =/ This multiplayer thing is just to give it more replayability and make it a better party game while remaining true to Mario's sidescroller roots.

I have two brothers that enjoyed the last NSMB. That game went missing, so now we've got this game to share.

Re: New Super Mario Bros. Wii

Looks okay. But why a million Mario games? Whenever i go anywhere i always see merchandise of Mario, Mario, Mario...
But this game looks fun. Better start saving money for 15 games i plan to buy after seeing E3 .

Nintendo has whored Mario since the arcade days. They'll do it for the rest of their life.

But hey, Square whores Final Fantasy quite a bit, and Microsoft is starting to whore Halo some more, and fans of those games will be thrilled. The same goes for Mario fans.

Re: New Super Mario Bros. Wii

If this had been Nintendo's flagship title for the show (as seemed to be the case for a while), it would have been a joke and I probably would hate it.

Obviously, there is nothing groundbreaking or impressive about it. Nobody would argue that there is (except perhaps Mrs. Dunaway, who appeared to claim it broke into the 4th dimension).

However, it does look fun and I will buy it, though I reiterate a $39.99 price tag would be nice.

I'm okay with the visuals. They are improved over the DS version. The backdrops are quite appealing, actually, though I do hope they change the music.

Also, it's a little disappointing the've elected to stick with the same level designs for the most part. But the inclusion of new power-ups does reveal at least some thought is being put into this game.

Finally, and most importantly, hopefully they are not approaching this solely as a multiplayer mayhem kind of game. While I will be living in the dorms, I don't know how often I'll be able to get people over to play Mario. It better be able to stand on its own as a 1-player game.

Probably because it's 4-player.

Re: New Super Mario Bros. Wii

There were three things wrong with this. One, they were playing the game pretty terribly. Two, they didn't choose a good level to show off. Three, player characters for 3P and 4P are a bit of a dull choice, in my opinion. Now, considering two of those things are about the conference, this game looks amazing. Look at those screenshots. I think they could have added better characters for 3P and 4P, but it's really nothing to complain about. That would be petty picking. Not to mention, I'm surprised you can use Yoshi in this.

While Nintendo's conference seemed to appear 'lame' again, they actually announced a **** load of amazing games. This is just one of them.
