Re: Super Mario Galaxy 2 Announced

Got the high quality trailer, and will be showing it to various friends tomorrow who always forget to keep an eye on E3 and whose heads will probably explode when they realise that a Galaxy sequel's been announced.

Screenshots look awesome!

Keep in mind that Mario Galaxy didn't get orchestrated music until later in development. Watch the early demos from E3 2006, the music was all Midi, as was the trailer music.

Placeholder music until the soundtrack is finished. It was a remix of the SMG1 ending theme.

I really wanted a sequel to SMG. I thought New SMB Wii would be the only Mario game announced outside of M&L3, but Nintendo gives us this.

Nintendo's best E3 in a long time.

Nintendo is good in all sectors. That's the thing. They aren't extremely awesome just in one area, but they are really really great in multiple areas. People don't like to admit it, but Nintendo's done a great job of keeping high quality on Wii and DS across casual, hardcore, and bridge games.

Re: Super Mario Galaxy 2 Announced

I definitely don't think Nintendo's just milking the glory of Galaxy... the outer space theme has such a broad scope that many innovative ideas are still on the brink of being discovered and explored. If they stopped at one Galaxy game, it'd have left much to be desired.

Judging by the trailer, it looks little like the first game at all (other than the graphics, and the engine, obviously). It seems the game will be jam-packed with the same bizarre and imaginative level design that made the first so fun.

I'm excited!

Re: Super Mario Galaxy 2 Announced

I'M SO FREAKING EXCITED.

I can't wait for this game to come out. I absolutely loved the first one and this one looks like it'll be even more of what made SMG1 awesome, including a few twists (Yoshi!).

I can't wait!!

Unless, that is, if it's Tetlink. Tetlink is adorable. Wait, that doesn't REALLY count as Zelink, does it? I mean, it does, but it's not the same Zelink as it is in the other games. And it's still considered Tetlink in the end. But it's still officially Zelink, right?
Ugh. My brain hurts.

Are there any more trailers aside from the one Nintendo showed?

Ooh. Yoshi is in it. That's good enough for me!

...ahem, seriously though.

Even if it does appear that they're recycling some of the gameplay, so what?
I loved Galaxy, and if Galaxy 2 manages to keep most of the fun alive, I'll definitely be getting it.

Re: Super Mario Galaxy 2 Announced

Never played Super Mario Galaxy. Nintendo's conference was full of Mario titles.

They made another Mario game instead of a Zelda because Mario games are easier to make than a Zelda game. A Zelda game needs a deep story line, hard thinking puzzles, ultimate style design. But in the end, Mario games are still fun to play.

But i didn't understand why they made a sequel? Its the first time a sequel was made to a 3d Mario title. If they would've made a sequel to Mario Sunshine, it would have turned out great.

The amount of time they generally spend on the games says otherwise.

At least it was core Mario whoring, and not Mario Party/Sports games.

Galaxy looks decent. 1 was pretty good. I live in the past though. SMW ftw.

Regarding the game, I view it like this; even if it's a fairly traditional sequel, you can't go wrong with a sequel to what is a contender for the greatest game ever. Not when we've already seen some new tricks in this initial trailer (Yoshi, the drill item etc.)
I agree, this game has zero chance of being anything less than great. I am sure this game will expand upon MQalaxy and the gameplay will be just as infectious.

Re: Super Mario Galaxy 2 Announced

So, what some people have been saying: There's still stuff to explore and innovate in SPACE.

...but the trailer shows nothing but stuff we already saw in Galaxy 1. But with Yoshi.

So yes, there is plenty potential, but I can't say I see it anywhere : \

Um...
Uh-oh...
Miyamoto: Super Mario Galaxy 2 Will Have 90% New Levels

.....I dunno, guys, I hope they're overestimating with that percent.

Whats wrong with 90-95% new levels? Wouldn't playing new content be much more fun?

Re: Super Mario Galaxy 2 Announced

^ I meant underestimating, whatever.
But to be honest now that I look at it again, if that's really the slight amount of reused levels/objectives, it won't be that bad. Maybe they're only reusing small worlds for coin challenges or something.
