I don't like to double post but what do you think will happen in HG/SS? I think we actually battle Giovanni and he confirms to be Silver's father. You then fight the two of them in a double battle with Soul as your partner (similar to the Galactic Commanders in D/P/Pt where Barry was your partner).

^It would be a little weird if Giovanni turns out to be the main character's father...a little too Star Wars-ish, IMO...I just hope the main battle with Ash is still at the end of the game.

BTW, at the moment, my two main Pokemon in Platinum are Infernape and Luxray.
Their movesets are:

Luxray (Male, Rivalry)
- Thunder Fang
- Spark
- Crunch
- Charge

Infernape (Female)
- Fire Blast
- Fire Wheel
- Close Combat
- Mach Punch

Could you recommend any changes to these moves? I'm thinking that Luxray in particular probably has too many electric-type moves.

Teach infernape thunderpunch just in case. And get rid of one of Luxray's electric-type moves.

is mamoswine a worthwhile pokemon to raise if it has good ivs

Get rid of Charge and replace Fire Blast with Flamethrower. It's more reliable even though Fire Blast is more powerful. Btw, its Flame Wheel, not Fire Wheel. xP

Close Combat isn't very good either. Doesn't it do damage to your own Pokemon too in addition to only having 5 PP? Tsk tsk.

MZ: I've never had one, but since Mamoswine is ice/ground, it could probably learn both Earthquake and Blizzard, which are good moves, which would obviously be quite a good thing.

Close Combat lowers Defense and Special Defense, it doesn't take away HP.
I actually kinda like it. If you can use it a lot without being attacked, it's... well, it's strong.

Actually, don't get blizzard. Even though it's strong, it has low accuracy,making it unreliable at the best. Do get earthquake though, because it's strong, almost always hits, and, is good for kiiling those dumb diggers( does double damage to underground enemies), just make sure you have a flying type ally or one that knows jump to doge earthquake since it hits allies too._pokemon.gifmudkipz.gifcool hair.jpg

Oh, but like I said, it has only 5 PP, and these are bad enough factors not to use the move. What if all of a sudden you got hit by a type trumping move after you used it? You'd probably be screwed.

They're electric Zebra Pokemon. Joltcolt and Joltallion (evolved form). Joltcolt is obviously an electric type while Joltallion is electric/flying. While Joltcolt can have either Static or Run Away as its ability, Joltallion can either have Intimidate or Volt Absorb.

Who the hell adviced Blizzard on a Mamoswine? Blizzard is Special, Mamoswine is much stronger on it's physical side.

As for Infernape, I think a good moveset for the story could be:

-Fire Punch (after a Sword dance, the extra damage from Fire Blitz won't be necessary. Plus, there's no recoil; move tutor) / Fire Blitz (you learn that through level up)
-Close Combat (this move is sooooo powerfull on SS Infernape its crazy, the defence drop is meaningless because in the story your Infernape will be outspeeding anything, so you won't be taking hits that much)
-Stone Edge (TM)/ Mach Punch (if you are worried about something outspeeding you)
-Swords Dance (TM)

For an item Smogon recommends Life Orb, but if you are worried about the Recoil/Defence Drop combination, a Fist Plate would work as well (specially if you choose Mach Punch. Wide Lens is also good for maximazing accuracy.

As for Luxray..., I HATE Luxrays. It was a piece of crap in my team when going through the story. But I can understand if you want it for its looks.

KEEP CHARGE. I can't tell you how many times that move saved my Luxray from dying. (Everytime you use it its special D. goes up, and the effect last even when you use an electric attack.)
Spark has a 30% chance of paralyzing, so keep that and get rid of Thunder Fang. Luxray is slow, he'll need that.

Thunderpunch, or Grass Knot. Whichever is better(Grass Knot is REALLY good against pokemon like Swampert and other bulky water types.

Ice Shard > Blizzard, Mamoswine is much better on the physical side, plus you always go first.
EDIT: You should change Joltcolt's name...it doesn't sound like a real pokemon name..but then again, the fools at Game Freak made "Lickylicky" so maybe it's acceptable after all..

And I know I was wrong about Close Combat. Still don't think it's very reliable though.

Oh and KEEP THUNDER FANG. That move saved my ass in the battle with Cynthia by making the opponent flinch. Flinching is good.
