The Silver is Giovanni's son thing is manga only.

And Yellow was based on the anime. The anime was loosely based on the original games.

It was also implied in the Rocket Warehouse in FRLG by Gideon (A scientist).

Speaking of Silver, I never liked the rival in GSC. What a jerk.

I liked the fact that he was a jerk, as I did with Blue. A rival is supposed be a jerk who makes you want to beat him. I hated how in later gens you had these friendly rivals.

Silver never really made me want to beat him. He was just an annoying, rude kid with kleptomania who felt the need to fight you every once in a while.

I'll admit Blue pulled off the whole "making you want to beat him" shtick better. There's just something about Silver's jerkiness I liked.

Like I said earlier, I despise the later rivals with a passion. **** the friendly rivalries, your rival should be a jackass.

I still think Silver in the games is quite the shallow character.

The only Rival who truly got on my nerves was Pearl.

I especially don't understand why DPPt's rival wasn't a jackass when you already had the opposite gender player character (Dawn or Lucas) to be your freaking cheerleader.

I agree that the jackass rivals were better, as you had motivation to kick their ass. The other ones kinda make you feel sorry for completely annihilating their pokemon.

And, back to the earlier confusion as to the motives of Team Magma and Aqua, Magma wanted more land for land pokemon, and Aqua wanted more water for water pokemon. Stupid, really.

They sounds like lame enemies... T_T

They were. Their only use was for levels and getting Groudon/Kyogre.

I never thought any of the enemies in any Pokemon game were particularily interesting. I just beat their asses and continued going to the gyms.

The different motives do give the games a little variety. Other than that, they are all basically the same games only with different pokemon.

For the record, I think Blue and Silver are the best rivals. Gen 3 and 4 suck, with the exception of the reappearance of Blue in FR/LG.

Haha, I just beaten the elite four on FR with pokemon under 50. It was easier then I thought.

It would remind me of Team Rocket's vehicles.

Also, why do so many people like Silver? I really don't get it. Sure, he was a jerk, but he wasn't interesting. :<

Had they given me more reason to hate him rather than "He's a jerk and he steals ololol", I might like him more. I just think he's shallow.

Don't get me wrong, he's loads better than Gen III and IV's rivals, but he still isn't that good.

All rivals are the same. They're just there to be a roadblock and sort of a tease since you just wanna continue with the game, but they won't let you.
