The DSi

OKAY FIRST OF ALL!

Who has a DSi? How do you like it? Do you prefer it over the DS Lite? Is it worth the money?

I am asking because I heard that Game Stop is doing a deal where you can trade your DS Lite in and get 70 bucks off the cost of a DSi, making it 100 bucks. I kinda wanna do this, although I am also wondering if a pawn shop will give me more money. I am not worried about the lack of a GBA slot, as I also have a DS Phat whose top screen is broken but can still play GBA games.

Re: The DSi

I've played around with my sisters DSi. I got bored with it quickly. The little functions are cool at first lose their value later on. I'm perfectly fine with old DS.

Re: The DSi

I have one. I like it, honestly. I picked up my DS Lite the other day to test a flashcard I ordered for a friend and I immediately wanted to put it down. The screen quality is noticeably lower now that I've been playing on a DSi for a while.

Re: The DSi

I wish there was a "Don't Have it, don't want it" option. It really isn't worth buying. Like Black Dog said, the features seem cool and fun at first, but after a couple of days, the feeling wears off, and you find yourself just playing the DS games. Which the Lite can do just fine, and it lasts longer.

Re: The DSi

I assure you that i would not trade my DS for a DSi. My DS is custom! I might consider buying one. Nothing is for sure yet.

Re: The DSi

My brother just got one, so I've been able to see a little of it.
It's kinda half-and-half. There are things about it that annoy me (no GBA slot, the rough texture of the system is crap, don't like the volume buttons instead of a slider, don't like start and select button placements, lower battery life), there are things I love about it, like the redesigned menu and the online store (assuming it's not useless), the super-bright and nice-looking screens, and the ability to hotswap cartridges and not have to turn the system off after changing options.

I never had a Lite (I still have my DS Phat from launch day), so some of these positives and negatives should be considered in that context (for instance, the Lite had the same button placements as the i, and I'm pretty sure it also had volume buttons... also, its screen is much closer to DSi's than the original's. Man, what a difference between mine and the DSi). So if you have a Lite already, you're less likely to both like and hate the DSi than I am. It'll probably seem more average to you.

I will say that possible exclusives and the online shop are reasons to consider it, though.

Re: The DSi

Dumb options.

Don't have it because I have a Lite. Not worth it at all.

Mostly I was looking for input on whether or not the GameStop thing was a good deal, but I don't think I'm even gonna get a DSi at all.

Re: The DSi

Once ST is said to be DSi Enhanced, you're all going to go out and get one.

Might as well get it now while you can save 70 bucks, because Nintendo is gonna phase out DS cards with DSi only cards.

Re: The DSi

I will only get it when/if a fairly large amount of decent exclusives come out for it. Otherwise, I'll just stick with my Lite until the next console comes out.

Re: The DSi

I recently sold my ds lite for 110 on Amazon, so it's probably not to smart to sell your lite to gamestop. I have to buy the dsi just because it's new and it seems to be better.
