Capcom to bring 20-40 PS1 and PSP games to PSN

Quote:
Capcom is going to make its PlayStation Network presence a lot more robust as it begins releasing ports of PS1 titles and providing downloadable versions of previous PSP titles throughout the year. We spoke with Capcom's Chris Kramer, who let us know that the company would be listening to what the community wants and figuring out internally what titles to release -- but don't expect any of them to involve licensing shenanigans along the lines of Marvel vs. Capcom.

"We'll definitely be looking at a lot of titles that have things like Street Fighter and Resident Evil in the title," Kramer said. "We're thinking about putting together a long list of the titles we're looking at, and then releasing it on Capcom Unity and having people vote on them. Ultimately we're looking at bringing between 20 and 40 titles to the PSN over the next several months."

All I can say is that I'll believe it when I see it, but if this is true, hell yes. They released so much great stuff on the PS1, and PSN really needs a big jolt. I'm crossing my fingers.

Which Capcom games would you like to see on PSN?

:O :O :O

Wow! And this is from a US representative! Leave it to Capcom to make the US PSN PSone releases as robust as Japan's.

Your point? Just because its on one doesn't mean its on the other. The US is really far behind what Japan has on their network. I don't really use my US account much anymore, but I know we barely have anything of value on it when it comes to PS1 games.

What took them so long?

Indeed, why do so many companies seem to take issue with the idea of re-releasing old games?

Re: Capcom to bring 20-40 PS1 and PSP games to PSN

More downloadable classics is never a bad thing, but I will stick my with original copies I think. I wouldn't mind seeing some rare (and now quite expensive, although not from capcom) releases like the Suikoden games and such, but other than that I am already set.

The PS1 ports on the PSN are priced well though, I must say. It's perfect for those who either can't find the originals or simply want a digital copy as well.

I hope this applies to Europe as well, I don't think there's been a single new game on there since I bought the system about one year ago.

The US PSOne library might seem bad, but it's actually amazing. I mean you've got games like Suikoden and Symphony of the Night, while our best game is Ridge Racer.

Still no Suikoden II here though
