Fire Emblem: The Official Thread Returns

Sorry, it wasn't simpler for me.

And also, I much prefer the 3D animations to the 2D ones. They were way more realistic and exciting if you ask me.

I liked the 3d animations as well-however, there was one that was bothering me. When Volug ran up behind someone and bit their head while twisting... I just thought that looked kinda odd for an attack.

EDIT: Wow, I just realized my new avatar matches my CR perfectly.

You mean they were ugly and boring. PoR looked almost like an N64 game. I preferred the detailed battle sprites of FE7. The animations also were more stylish than the 3d ones. I just love 2d games in general, so I might be biased, but FE9 was definitely lacking in the graphics department.

lol yeah sometimes the way the laguz attack can be a bit odd. xP

But Boyd's critical attacks ftw. Ike had awesome ones in PoR, but for some reason they got corny in RD. Still, that guy owned anyway with Aether and stuff. XD

Also, I said nothing about graphics. However, I did enjoy the graphics for the most part, except for when they looked N64-ish like you said. That was only a few times, though.

I think most of us here are going to vouch for either FE7 (simply called "Fire Emblem" in North America) or one of the older, Japanese-only games to start with, but I'd actually say FEDS is a good one to start with, too, if only because it's an extremely simple, strictly-gameplay outing (they apparently made it that way on purpose-- there's practically NO story or dialogue between characters). So if you don't mind the lack of personality, DS isn't bad. But FE7 I think is a great way to get introduced to the series, as it's how much of the world was anyway, and the first few battles are tutorials. Also, you ARE a character in the story. I thought that was cool. Shame they don't do that anymore.

I wouldn't go as far as calling it an N64 game, but the visuals were very boring.
I love the 2-d animations because they're more interesting and fluid to look at. In 3-d, half the time they just run up and hit the person. Nothing exciting about that. ...Whereas in 2-d, you have people flying all over the screen, swinging swords from every which way.

Despite I love Fire Emblem, I'm not gonna even say anything in this thread seeing the following happens:

1. OMG HECTOR x SIGURD YAOI!!!!

2. Older Fire Emblem are better then Newer Fire Emblem

3. Elitism (I knew Fire Emblem before it was cool, older vs. newer, Sigurd Vs. Ike)

4. Ranil bashing

I said I preferred the 2d style. Preference is not fact, it's opinion. You seem to be the one stating your preferences as facts. You just outright state things like RD is the best, or the animations are exciting, without explaining why they are "better".

Yeah, I liked being a character in the game too. I don't mind too much if it never is done like that again though.

Not really. I learned more from 7 than 9. A lot more detail was put into the tutorial, and it's definitely more friendly to newcomers.

I love that part soooo much. It's a shame Ranny doesn't care about the game, she would definitely love that scene.

I didn't say I didn't care about the game. I like FE7 a lot. You all are just mad I like PoR and RD more.

Also, I probably wouldn't care about scenes like that anyway.

I'm not mad. I'm perplexed at your obsession with FE9 and FE10. Liking those games that much is pretty weird.

And it's too bad I was being serious. Yeah, Lyn and Florina had have a relationship but it was just showing their love, nothing else. It's kinda sad through that they were kill in a hate crime incident however.

And you're free to think that. I love those games to death and that's all that's important to me. Same goes for liking Ike, Boyd, Eliwood, and my other favorite characters, as well as my favorite songs.

FE7 is my favorite game in the series. Its a ton of fun and alot of gaiden chapters and weird paths to follow! Also there's Florina as Snowie pointed out. (although im not a fan of the FlorinaxLyn thing..I prefer FlorinaxHector)
RD is not mad hard on Easy mode Ranny. Its pretty easy but since i prefer to use alot of different characters in my playthroughs, i play easy mode. PoR was harder and thats not saying much.
Im currently playing Sacred Stones. that game is fun albeit one of the weakest in the series.
