The warning comes from the Mid-Missouri Internet Crimes Task Force, where investigator Andy Anderson warns that any adult playing the game “is likely doing so for the wrong reasons”, and points out that online predators could be lurking in the game thanks to its multiplayer capabilities.
That's pretty much like violence in video games, right?

What about that: "It is also a known fact that predatory pedophiles, when thirsty, drank water. Any adult drinking water is likely doing so for the wrong reasons." (sorry if that was wrong)

But anyways. I hope nothing bad happens.

That is the most disgusting and ignorant thing I have ever read. Actually... there are other disgusting ignorant things that are really bad too. I have to rethink my top five.

I need to read the whole article now but holy **** that police officer is a jackass. Didn't one of nintendos commercials have to adult women playing animal crossing?

With all the hassle of Friend Codes, why would anyone bother using a Nintendo system for this kind of thing?

I guess as an adult with I'll have to go back to playing violent games. At least no one will blame those games for something they're not related to, right?

Re: What Missouri thinks about Animal Crossing: City Folk =/

Wow, a new low on the ignorance scale.
Come on, I'm really getting tired of games being blasted for everything. But I guess if people try to sue McDonald's for making them fat and sue Nintendo because there "aren't enough warnings on the Wii" (completely ignoring the eight bazillion that are everywhere), this is to be expected, whether it's out of ignorance, spite, or greed.

I'm seriously trying to figure out why in **** hell video games are automatically labeled as kids' fare. ESPECIALLY Nintendo games. People complain about mature-rated games on a Nintendo console-- "How could Nintendo allow such games on a kids' video game system?!"
Get a clue.

Re: What Missouri thinks about Animal Crossing: City Folk =/

I once heard a story about a mother-daughter pair who both played Animal Crossing. They loved playing together for a while, sending gifts back and forth to each other, but eventually the daughter got tired of the game and grew out of it. Some time later her mother died, and she turned on the game for nostalgia's sake, and found that her mother had sent her gifts every single day since they started playing.

So yeah, bugger off, Missouri.

I remember that story, it was terribly sad. ._.

Well, sad isn't quite the right word. It was very touching, though.

I know exactly what you're talking about. This should be made into its own thread, because its a very interesting topic, but would required a lady's touch to do well. :B

Re: What Missouri thinks about Animal Crossing: City Folk =/

And here I was thinking that friend codes alone, as inconvenient as they are, were enough to keep children out of harm.

Seriously, it should all be left up to the parents. Hell, I've always thought that friend codes aren't a bad concept as long as they are a parental-control option and are NOT mandatory for everybody.

It would be better if every single gaming decision was left up to the parent's discretion. This way, any "problems" would come up only on a case-by-case basis, and people who are under control and want to enjoy playing the game in question don't have to put up with the constant bullcrap.

Uh
This cannot be serious. Do they even have *proof* that pedophiles use this game specifically to get children? And how would pedophiles even know about this game?

This is stupid, really. Seems like Missouri police are quite bored, and they made up this BS one day while trying out the game on their free time

Re: What Missouri thinks about Animal Crossing: City Folk =/

You know, if I was a child predator, Animal Crossing wouldn't be a bad way to go about finding potential targets. It really is a child/younger crowd aimed game, atleast that is how it appears to the mainstream/nongaming audience. Though this is a bit far as far as "LOL RAEP GAMES NO KIDS" claims go, this isn't too left field to be unacceptable.

As somebody who lives in Missouri, I can wholeheartedly agree, our cops are...yeah. Our cops has a history of doing and saying **** that get them in trouble.

Why don' they go ahead and say that adults who play any games online are pedophiles? Children are at a bigger risk playing on Xbox LIVE than those who play Animal Crossing.

Wow. I wasn't exactly fond of Missouri before this, but I never knew they were such stupid tossers.

Ever considered that adults might be playing the game because they find it fun?
