Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers New AMAZING TGS Trailer

View it here.

What the hell happened to the gameplay? It doesn't look good at all anymore. The music is also horrible. Still, the story looks like it could be good, so I'm going to have to be cautiously optimistic on this one.

Re: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers New Trailer

It picked up a little after the shockingly laughable intro, but at least it isn't canceled. Yeah, the story actually looks promising, but some of the gameplay is a bit.. :/

Re: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers New Trailer

...what was wrong with the combat? It's in real time, it's a very different style from past FF combat, it's making solid use of the Wii's IR sensor, there looks to be a good selection of attacks, and apparently allows for you pull off a lot of actions. Sound good to me.

What I like even more is what the IR pointer could do outside of combat. It seems like it'll be great for puzzle and platforming gameplay, much moreso than it other RPGs. This seems like it could be a very good, non-traditional FF.

"Anymore"? Was there another trailer I missed? 'Cause the other one didn't show off very much gameplay at all.

Anyway, I think this could be pretty cool. I do see a lot of gravity power usage... hopefully that works out good.

I'm excited that they really haven't forgotten about this. (I was skeptical each time they said it was still in the works.)

Doesn't look too bad at all. I just can't believe it took them this long to show us new footage.

The main character looks like he'll be awesome : D.

The gameplay could be good, but based on previous FFCC games I doubt it. They tend to do something wrong for every thing they get right : /.

Strange music alzo.

Rings of Fate would've been pretty good had they not screwed up the framerate, that was the real killer for that game. Apparently Echoes of Time is suffering from the same exact problem (wtf?)

As long as they don't botch that in Crystal Bearers, it stands a much better chance than its predecessors.

Plus, the Crystal Bearers has always seemed like the Final Fantasy IX team's main project, which is why I've always held out hope for it once I learned that it was single-player focused.

Still though, this new combat thus far is a complete turn-off. We really need some impressions before we completely disregard it yet.

What?! This game looks awesome! Exploration, gravity guns, great use of the pointer, solid graphics (for Wii), and the music is put a smile on my face.

Finally, I have a Wii game to look forward too!

At long last a new trailer has come. I agree that the intro to it was laughable. But what follows it renewed my faith. Hey, Wonder, do you know where I can a trailer with subtitles?

Re: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers New Trailer

Not much love for the first piece of music? I agree that it's not very conventional in relation to the FF franchise, but it is quite fitting. The Crystal Chronicles is all about the developer's experimentation and their willingness to try new things, and that's exactly what that piece of music embodied.

I'm pumped for this game. When the first CC was announced back for the Gamecube, the game promised in this trailer is what I was looking forward to: something that was fun and inventive, that also had a ton of narrative weight behind it.

Do want indeed.

Re: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers New Trailer

I've got to say, I know for one that this game is going to be a lot better than the first CC for GCN. The first one was horrible, I had it. You had to repeat levels for the year to pass, so you could get through into the right levels or something. It was stupid.

Re: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers New Trailer

That wasn't the worst crime of the original FFCC. The problem with that game was the GBA connectivity.

Well, that, and the pacing. Without at least two other people, the game was really boring. And even with others it still wasn't an "exciting" game.

Games like Ring of Fates, The Crystal Bearers and My Life as a King seem to be doing the Crystal Chronicles world some justice, though. Not sure about Echoes of Time.

I'm not sure I even want Echoes of time anymore, I never got My Life as a King because it's so damn expensive (especially with all of that pricey DLC), and I was tempted to get Ring of Fates. I was worried about getting it though, because apparently it's near stupid how you have to perform some spells alone.

I do remember there being some good music in the first CC game though, and I was a little happier when I found out you could make better spells and stuff. But it just felt.. Bleh.

Re: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers New Trailer

I wonder where the story is going, did anyone notice that the Yukes in the Crystal Bearers trailer were carrying what looked like Chelinka's green crystal from Ring of Fates?

Also I wonder about Mio and Raem from the first crystal chronicles and if there ever gonna be in another game.

OK. So now I'm hyped.

Many thanks!

(BTW wasn't there a scar on the protagonist's right eye? I looked closely at the screens and I noticed)
