Re: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers New Trailer

I think it looks amazing. Its kept the unique and very original Style of the Crystal Chronicles series and made it look epic. Im deffinetly going to preorder this one.

Also i highly doubt that the intro music is going to be used for the game. It was just some Japanese Commercial music used for the promotion of the trailer. This kind of cheese sells well in Japan....when we get an actual US trailer that appeals to our crowd more then everyone should change thier tune xD.

Some new footage has surfaced, http://www.gametrailers.com/player/47487.html
Seems that monsters in the game can interact with each other and not just the player.

It looks as if you are actually controlling the Bomb which is cool if your able to do such things in the game.

Don't link to Gametrailers when the original quality is up on the official site.

Re: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers New Trailer

Wow, for once a square website isnt just a piece of crap teaser =P I'm kinda puzzled by this but....if the main character has telecanetic powers, then I suppose he probobly is controlling the bomb, or charmed it...I dont know. It's something to chew on. And if it is simply monsters interacting like Z-MAN said..then square can go suck a ****. Stop showing off your non-player related progging skills. =P

Btw....that more visits more movies thing...do they seriously mean the more clicks that website gets, the more movies that'll be posted?

The site has yet another new video...and this of a guy trapped under a rock....and everyone looking at him. More square showing off....implying that you can lift these giant rocks...since..how else would it have gotten ontop of him? And yeah.... Meh.

Re: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers New Trailer

There is a huge blowout of information in this week's Famitsu on the game. HYPE ON!

And some new info, translated via 1up:
Quote:
Square Enix's Wii FFCC is a surprising reinvention of the franchise.
By Kevin Gifford, 04/15/2009

The last time we heard anything concrete about Square Enix's Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers for the Wii, it was 2007 and everyone in the 1up editorial department was still popping their collars and wearing mood rings and fake gold medallions around the office. Completely true story.
"We didn't have a full development team at the time we announced the game," game producer and scriptwriter Akitoshi Kawazu admitted to Famitsu magazine this week. "We were working on it, and that's why we announced it, but it was a little early to be talking about it. The team also had a very tall order, to build a game where you could interact with everything that exists in the world, so it took time to build the foundation for that."
That last sentence doesn't sound much like the FFCC we know, that light 'n easy multiplayer-oriented action RPG that's taken up residence on all manner of Nintendo platforms. The Crystal Bearers is still a role-playing game, yes, but things are quite a bit different from when we last visited the game's world -- the characters have lost their cute, rotund look for something a bit more realistic and (for lack of a better term) Final Fantasy-like, and the story is much more mature than what you'd expect from a Wii RPG. That's what chronicling the extinction of an entire in-game race will do for you.
The "Crystal Bearers" from the title are talented magic users, lucky (or unlucky, depending on your viewpoint) people who have trace crystal elements imbued in their bodies. Every Crystal Bearer has his or her own unique ability, Layle, the hero of the game, has the power to control spatial gravity -- in other words, he can Force Push stuff around Jedi-style.
Layle was born long after the events of previous FFCC games, and a lot's happened in the between time. Firearms have replaced swords as the preferred weaponry, and the mythical crystals are now harnessed for such banal things as manufacturing and industry instead of fairy-tale miasma smiting and so on. Most shocking: The Yukes, one of FFCC's four traditional races, are a thing of the past, something largely forgotten by this game's timeframe. "There was a clash between mechanical technology and magical force, and this story takes place after that ended," Kawazu explains. "Each race has its own crystal and its own customs related to the crystals, and the clash between these customs finally escalated into all-out war."
As The Crystal Bearers begins, Layle is on a boring escort mission, guarding an enormous new passenger airship on its maiden voyage. The job gets more exciting when it's attacked by an army that turns out to be led by a Yuke named Amidatelion. That's where Layle's true adventure starts, and unlike the FFCCs of the past, the world is largely open to him.
This game makes a point of giving the player a great deal of freedom, even as it retains touches of what makes the series unique. The battles are still action-oriented, and as you'd expect, you can use the Wii Remote to mark out targets and throw them around with your crystal skills as you fight lots of enemies at once. However, unlike previous FFCCs (and most JRPGs, for that matter), there's no demarcation between cities and "the great outdoors." Layle can use all of his skills in town, too, picking up children and using his Force-ish magic to rip the newspapers out of people's hands if he likes. This opens up a very Fable-like element to the game, as Layle's actions in urban areas can either make him the darling sweetheart of the town's ladies or get him kicked out by the city guard -- or both. (The game has none of the multiplayer features of previous FFCCs, as Layle works mostly by himself, but Kawazu hinted that other people can use Wiimotes to help, or hinder, you in unspecified ways as you play the game)
"Part of the original concept was to make a 'touchable' Final Fantasy," notes Toshiyuki Itanaha, the game's director and character designer. "Games up to now were designed to have you fight outdoors and go shopping and talk to people in town, but this project eliminates all of that." The Crystal Bearers still has no release date (Itahana estimated the game to be about 60 percent complete), but if it lives up to its creators' promises, the interminable wait we've dealt with may just be worth it.
I need to get over the main character's looks. I hated how Zidane looked too, and ended up loving the character.

Wow, this may actually end up being a Crystal Chronicles game worth getting excited about.

I know! I was just about to say that it sort of sucks that they put the Crystal Chronicles branding on it, considering how big of a game it is and the sometimes mediocre spin-offy small projects the Crystal Chronicles games have been associated as.

Re: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers New Trailer

Totally. Hopefully it'll reinvent the franchise. If they focused more on bigger titles like this and less on cutesy action RPGs with mediocre multiplayer then they might just have something going for them. It would be nice to have an alternative to the numbered series that actually has a larger scope instead of being second-rate spin-off fare. I really think this game has potential, which really surprises me since I was mostly ambivalent to it when it was first announced.

It has potential sure, but looking at their previous games, for every good idea that they have, they do something incredibly stupid and **** it up. I actually had fun with their games but they are full of some idiotic choices and are all kind of bareboned at best : /.

I suppose that the whole team has a lot more experience under their belt than they did a few years ago, and I'm willing to bet the budget isn't that small either, so I cautiously optimistic.

It's funny how tiny the CC logo is, seems pointless including it O-o.

Re: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers New Trailer

Eep, that part about the Yukes being a thing of the past scared me a little bit, but thankfully they're still in the game. Also, is that big guy on the third page supposed to be a Lilty...?

My main character's look sort of bothers me, but I guess I'll get used to it. Also, how the heck do you pronounce his name?

I need to catch up on the other FFCCs before I play this one. Sort of excited that it will be really different from the past games, but I was a bit sad when they said that swords are no longer used. Ah well... XD

Re: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers New Trailer

Whats with everyone bashing the old CC games? Those were great =P. This on the other hand, isnt a crystal chronicles game, they lie I say, lie! xD My hype would be up if I didnt hear the game was only 60% compleated. Udeu....how long must I wait.. >.<. All well, I just hope that your gravity defying powers get put to use on some blade weapons. You cant spell RPG without blades.... the "blades" is silent.

I have a feeling the original Crystal Chronicles team hasn't been working together on a project since the original Gamecube game. And before that, they made Final Fantasy IX, so pedigree isn't exactly the problem. It's that all the Crystal Chronicles games since then have been cheaper budgeted b-team side projects.

Wow this is looking great. I can't wait to go ape crazy on some monsters with force powers. I wonder how the game worlds are laid out, is it like that of past games with a map to select areas or has it got a Zelda styled overworld?

^ Judging by how they described the towns having no clear distinction from the overworld, I'd assume it's like EarthBound. You just walk right on into a town from the overworld, with no clear sign that you've done so (you know, besides the buildings and whatnot).

I'm still eager to hear more about this game. I really, really want it to be good. I liked the original CC a lot, and felt the games after it lost the feeling it had. I've always wanted them to go and make another game like the original CC, and even though this is nowhere close (probably the exact opposite), it looks very interesting.

I really like how Square is trying to make this game completely interactable. I was shocked to see the main character get knocked down by a running NPC, but I liked it. I love when the world feels more real.

Yes, I love this approach. I'm tried of games dividing the levels, the overworld, and the towns in such thick black lines. It makes the game feel a whole not more immersive when those lines are blurred.
