The Offical SSB Brawl-Gym Thread

This thread is here to help people get better/even better at Brawl. This includes, but is not limited to: perfecting combos, pro-dodging, etc. This thread is inportant to thoughs participating in a Brawl tourny. Expose your “flaws” to become more experienced in Brawl.

All forum rules apply, and infomation in this thread could expose your weaknesses, therefore, letting people know how to beat you. Use the advice in this thread to put a close to thoughs weaknessess.

Uh, if you don't play as Link I can't help you as much as the next guy.

Use Ukemi as often as you can though. Sweet to use when the opponent tries to hit you while you're down, and you just bounce up and counter-attack immediately.

Here is my tip:

Try to not lose.

Think like a psychologist - What would you feel uncomfortable with, if the opponent did? Walking blocky? Dashdancing, pivoting? Not doing an attack but instead dodging all your attacks, then striking with a precise one? Take a few games not focused on winning but learning your opponents patterns.

I don't feel limited by Kirby, but I do wish to become faster with any moves which can be done in the air/ground.
Some of the moves that can be done while in mid-air by Kirby:

-Down B: Kirby Smash.
-Down A: Kirby Drill.
-Left/Right B: DDD Hammer Wack.
-Up/Left/Right A: Basic Kick

I'm trying to find a way how to beat TK (Twilight Kitty.) I am getting a lot better at doing damage on him when I'm in the air, so that's the way I'm trying to beat him.

BUT, If I am not used to ground attack, then that could led to trouble. I usually charge at TK, and do a Kirby-top spin sometimes. Though, we always does a Yoshi Smash, or a Yoshi lick. So, I'm limiting that a bit... A do a few long-distance moves, but that's not enough. I can get him a lot with a powerful Hold A+Left/Right release move, but I don't seem to beable to attack him quick enough. By no means am I trying to attack TK with the speed of Sonic, but I feel as though Kirby might need some sugar to help him...

Get inside the other persons head. Dodge around a lot to see how they react, then react on what weaknesses you see with fast attacks. Mind games, get good at them and you've mastered Brawl...

Twilight Kitty (TK) is a monster at Brawl. I already found some weaknesses, but only while in mid-air. I need to find some when he is on the ground...

The Dragon Man can beat him, yet I never did once... I only got him down to one life before I lost...

TK, if you see this, I am plotting againist you. You say that I can never beat you, but you will eat your words... Short, pink words... Kirby shall win!

Depending on the matchup learn whether to play defensive or aggresive. Choose your spacing right. Learn all the special techniques your character can do. Like Falco's double laser. Or the IC 0-death chain grab infinites. Or a DACUS if your character can use it.
If you have projectiles and your opponent doesn't then camp with them to give pressure and force them to approach.

Learn as much as you can from Smashboards or any other brawl site. That way, you have a general idea of what to do when you face certain situations. Going through all matchup discussions about your character is very helpful when you are facing one character for the first time.

It's no secret that the secret to beating Twilight Kitty is to be equal or above his skill.

Or, you know, just look up some Yoshi match-up threads over at Smashboards and exploit his already known weaknesses. Also try to avoid fighting on stages that benefit Yoshi, which TK tends to choose.

This is not about TK beating me countless times. I am getting better at beating him, so...yeah.

Eh, I don't know if I need to give tips on beating me, but I will say that if you use Ike or Luigi against me, be prepared for dittos.

TK is good, but I'm above average at reading my opponents, and TK can be really predictable.

The problem is, you're doing the best you can do, but it isn't good enough.

Now as for my faults...

I need to air dodge more.
I need to master TL's SHBD
Pursue instead of wait
Edgeguarding
