Re: Game Recommendations V.3

Alright, I need a recommendation. I've decided to cash in on the free NES game offer that Nintendo has given to everyone who downloaded the Internet Channel before it became free. Now that I have all these NES titles before me, I can't decide on which to get. I already have Super Mario Bros. 3, so you can safely count that one out of the picture.

Titles I'm considering:

Legend of Zelda
Adventure of Link
Super Mario Bros. 2
Kirby's Adventure
One of the Mega Man games
Kid Icarus
Metroid
Punch-Out!!

I'm leaning on Super Mario Bros. 2 or either of the two Zeldas. I need a quick opinion that can help me make up my mind.

Definitely Megaman 2 or 3. The NES Zelda's aren't all that great IMO.

If you have a 360 and GTAIV, you should try out the Ballad of Gay Tony. It's what GTAIV should've been.

Adventure of Link isn't that great. Zelda 1 is.

Re: Game Recommendations V.3

I've been looking into buying "The Orange Box", as I've heard some good things about it. I've recently got a new laptop and I think it'd be able to run the games on it, but I also have a Xbox 360. So, I was basically wondering if I should buy The Orange Box for my Laptop, or my 360?

Re: Game Recommendations V.3

When in doubt go for the 360 version, but then again, you can always just return the PC version if you can't run it. I'd try the PC version first and then if you're not satisfied with performance, refund and get the 360 version.

I have to say though, the difference between the PC version of Half Life 2 (original and episodes) and the 360 version is basically non existent. TF2 is probably the only place you'll notice a difference, and TF2 kinda of sucks anyway.

Where do you buy PC games? Most places won't take them back once the seal is broken.

I know for a fact that Wal-Mart would take it back. Even then, I'll ask before I buy it.

And thanks Andy, I'll try that.

This might be too late, but definitely PC. I can't really speak for HL2 or Portal, but TF2 on PC is just ultimately mega-superior to the 360 version. Also you'll get all the updates!

Any thoughts on Borderlands for PC? I have a decent-ish laptop and it looks interesting.

I remember playing as King way back on the older versions for the original Playstation. He was my favourite character.

Is this new one any good?

I never owned any of the other games, but I played the Arcade games a lot, even though I never played as King, so I don't know what I can tell you here, except for the fact that he and Armor King are pretty good, though pretty much the same.

I dunno what to tell you, since I don't have it for the PC. But if you're really into it, try it and see if it works. It's pretty good, so if you've played PC Shooters and/or World of Warcraft, you'll probably like it.

Yes, I said it: World of Warcraft.

Re: Game Recommendations V.3

I haven't played WoW, but I'm into TF2 and L4D. I played a bit of Borderlands at a net cafe earlier, seems pretty fun. I'll probably pick it up at work tomorrow. Even though I can't play til my laptop's fixed. :/

Re: Game Recommendations V.3

So guys, how good is Forza 3 for the 360? The demo is currently blowing my mind, but the last time I bought a game based on the demo it really didn't work out so well. Is it really worth the money?

Re: Game Recommendations V.3

Borderlands is good for two things: One, if you have friends to play with; it can be a blast. Or two, if you like loot (weapons). The story itself is pretty lackluster. I'm pretty disappointed with the story myself, but that's just me. The gameplay is fun albeit repetitive over time. You'll find that sometimes the only thing keeping you playing is the awesome amount of weapons you can collect. As a single player experience, I'd have to say it would probably get pretty boring playing by yourself for a numerous amount of hours. Not exactly an exciting game, but I played through it 'till the end with a couple of friends of mine. Can't imagine what it would have been like in single-player. Actually, I can. Boring as hell.

Need help with game choices!!

I'm starting to look at my options for games in the next few years.

Getting Zelda Wii for my Wii is a given obviously and being a ToS fan, getting Tales of Graces is a given. Monster Hunter 3 also looks good. There isn't much else though.

I was thinking, is it worth getting a PS3 for some of its new games. FFXIII and XIV look good and it seems like PS3 is getting other good games. Would it actually be worth getting a PS3. I don't actually have heaps of money to spend so I'm just wondering whether it would be worth scraping in and buying a PS3 eventually... I don't know...

EDIT: What I mean to say is... I've just finished my last year of high school. And I am looking forward to getting back into some awesome console games like I used to. But there doesn't seem to be anything. All I have to be honest to play that I feel like playing is Twilight Princess and Tales of Symphonia. I will still love playing through them again... but come on... Is it just me, or is there a very poor selection of games these days? Or is it just that I don't own a 360 or PS3... or what is it? Anyway, can someone please help me to get up to date with things??
