Game Cube Controler

I was in a video game store and was looking through some of the old N64 stuff. I saw many weird controlers. Then I saw one controller that looked like a GameCube controler. I took a closer look at it and it was an N64 controller. It looked exactly like a gamecube contrloer except the C-stick was replaced by the C-buttons and the joystick and joypad (or whater its name is) were swithched around. ALso it didn't have the x or y buttons(it was an N64 control for those of you who are confused). There were some other minor differences but it look just like a gamecube controller. My theory is the gamecube controler was ripped off of this one. Has anyone else seen a controller like this???

Re: Game Cube Controler

If it was an N64 controller, and looked like a GameCube controller, it wouldn't be a rip off, since both are made by the same company.

Re: Game Cube Controler

It is not possible for the Gamecube controller to be "ripped off" from the N64, for one simple reason. Consider their names. Nintendo GameCube and Nintendo 64.

Besides that, I'd guess that Nintendo figured out a better controller set up before they made the GameCube, and that was it.

Re: Game Cube Controler

Lets see. It seems to me that the only difference between the gamecube and the N64 controllers are:
The shape
the handling
and the new XY buttons.

Next thing you'll be saying that the SNES controller was a "rip off" of the NES controller because it had the same joypad, the A and B buttons and they just added four more (the X,Y, R, and L)

I don't know what I just did, but if its called flaming or anything that isn't allowed in these forums, Im sorry www9898 but I sorta felt like that was an ignorant question and I gave my full out opinion on this. Once again Im sorry

Re: Game Cube Controler

Other companies make controlers for game systems. They usually have the extra "speed" buttons and stuff like that. What I'm saying is that maybe Nintendo may have gotten the idea for there controller from this N64 controler made by another company.

I highly doubt it, as the Gamecube controller is almoast identical to the original N64 one, it just has X and Y buttons, slightly diffirent shape, and a C-stick as opposed ot C-buttons. Also from your discription this new controller sounds like the N64 one with some buttons moved, how is that any similar to the Gamecube controller? Finally, as you pointed out, other companies make controllers for systems, sometimes they do it without the permission of Nintendo or Sony or MIcrosoft, this sounds like one of those. I highly doubt that the people who design Nintendo controllers even knew that this one existed when they created the design for the Gamecube controller.
