Rock Band 2 Free 20 song DLC: Epic Fail?

As many of you know, Rock Band 2 shipped was shipped with a promise of 20 free songs by the end of the year. These 20 DLC songs would boost the RB2 setlist to over 100 songs!

Since Rock Band 2 came out, I've been waiting for the official list to be announced and wondering if any of my favorite songs would be included.

Well, the list was announced and it was a shocker. For anyone who was expecting to rock out to 20 more rock classics, be warned. This pack features only songs by not-so-known artists. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of people didn't know any of the songs.

Here is the list:

The 88 - "Sons and Daughters"
Authority Zero - "No Regrets"
Between the Buried and Me - "Prequel To The Sequel"
The Cab - "Bounce"
The Chevelles - "Get It On"
The Cocktail Slippers - "Give It To Me"
Dealership - "Database Corrupted"
Endeverafter - "I Wanna Be Your Man"
The Ghost Hounds - "Ashes To Fire"
Hollywood Undead - "Young"
Kutless - "The Feeling"
The Len Price 3 - "If I Ain't Got You"
Lesley Roy - "I'm Gone, I'm Going"
Opiate for the Masses - "Burn You Down"
Semi-Precious Weapons - "Magnetic Baby"
Shaimus - "Like a Fool"
Thenewno2" - Crazy Tuesday"
Tickle Me Pink - "The Time Is Wrong"
Underoath - "Desperate Times, Desperate Measures"
X Japan - "I.V."

I for one think that this was pretty sneaky of Harmonix, since they even used the 20 free songs as a selling point (its on the box!). Sure, its hard to complain about 20 free songs, and I'm sure that some of these songs are probably very good, but I couldn't help losing all the excitement I had for this pack after reading the list.

What do you guys think?

Also: Underoath...?

If they are good it doesn't matter, the fact that they aren't "classics" is what is a failtacular. Just because a song is old doesn't mean everyone should like it and just because a song and or band is new doesn't mean that it's immediately bad. If you like a song or band then it doesn't matter but the problem with everyone complaining that a song or band is bad is a bigger issue.

I agree with you 100%, yet I can't help but feel a bit let-down by this list.
Perhaps its my fault for having expectations?

Whatever, I didn't know half the song that shipped with Rock Band 1 or 2.

If anything, I'm sure these will at least be fun to play.

I wouldn't mind jamming out to some X Japan. Other than that, half of those bands suck, and I've never heard of the other half, however, judging by their names, they probably suck.

I'm with 8bit on that sentiment.

I haven't heard of half of the bands/songs on RockBand 1 & 2, so it doesn't make any difference to me as to whether or not these 20 free songs are well-known or not.
