What would you like to see in each of Nintendo's next franchises?

Even if you haven't played a franchise just, like make something up.

Mario: Sequal to Mario 64. Like an actualy sequal not with any sort of gimmick.
Zelda: Twilight Princess style graphics, better story (despite its emphisis Zelda stories are awful) and a new formula
Star Fox: 64 style single player with Assault style multiplayer with online.
Metroid: Either a sequal to Fusion or a horror game.
Fire Emblem: Never played so uhhhhhhh I guess add items it doesn't already have them.
Smash brothers: More of everything
Kirby: New 3D Kirby (like Crystal shards)
F-Zero: More accurate "easy and hard" modes
Mother: American release of Mother 3.

Re: What would you like to see in each of Nintendo's next franchises?

You really should go into more detail about each thing. Lists are usually too short cut, and they just make it pointless and messy.

A sequal to Super Mario 64? That's basically saying "I want another Super Mario Bros. from the NES. It's all the same game, and it's boring, just like pretty much everything else.

Zelda? You want TP graphics with a better story? That works for me. But I need MORE ENEMIES. TP was just way too easy, with no enemies in sight. Hyrule field could have been a bit larger, but it's still empty. Just a bunch of pointless riding with little to do. I want to control day time and night time again. More songs. Different enemies. etc.

Star Fox I was never really a fan of. It was just too... I don't know. Repetitive and slow. Having to start from the beginning after dying made it challenging, but a little too tedious.

As for the rest, I just don't feel like getting into it.

How about something NEW? Nintendo has been riding the backs of these old franchises forever.

Make a new series. A new character.

Try telling that to the millions of fanboys.

Re: What would you like to see in each of Nintendo's next franchises?

Mario: 2D gameplay, deeper gameplay than before, extensive level creator...pretty much LBP with Mario.
Zelda: A decent story, period. An original story, period. The gameplay actually improving, decent titular gimmick items, character developement.
Star Fox: A sequel.
Metroid: Metroid V, no more Retro or NSTD.
Fire Emblem: Nothing at the moment.
Super Smash Bros.: Absolutely nothing, I am not prepared for another disappointment like Brawl.
F-Zero: A sequel, one that doesn't use any gimmicks
Kirby: Animal friends.
Mother: Nothing really.

Agreed. The last time they actually made a new series that became decently popular was in 2001.

Metroid? Dark? Puhlease! All it has are dying (or undead-ish) soldiers and dead aliens. The darkest thing about Metroid is Samus' backstory, which isn't that dark...

Doesn't that tell you something? Golbez hit the nail on the head; people just like Nintendo's longtime properties a helluva lot more. New IP on any system is generally tough to make a massive success, what do you expect on a Nintendo system?

Besides, making a new IP wouldn't guarantee any fresh game. For all we know it could end up being just as generic as something like Blacksite or Timeshift.

The isolation, coupled with incredible atmosphere and generally severe logs gives the Prime trilogy a fairly dark feel.

Jeff, I think he was being sarcastic about metroid darkness thing. Metroid is incredibly dark. It always has been.

NEW? Look at all of nintendos new games: Wii Play, Wii Sports, etc. The old franchises may be old, but at least they are good!

Mario: No more games like Mario Party, Strikers, etc. Just stick to the standard mario games, and mario kart.

Zelda: Exactly whatPal101 wanted, but with harder difficulty and maybe somewhere other that Hyrule. I personally wouldn't object to a futuristic (ex: 27th century thereabouts) zelda as long as it could keep to its puzzle based dungeon formula.

Star Fox: Don't put in on foot combat if it has horrible controls (ex. Assault), but don't make it the emphasis of the game either (ex. Adventures, although I did think Adventures was still great). Also, maybe make it so you are atually flying, rather than being part of a on rails shooter.
Take examples from great air combat games like Ace Combat, Crimson Skies, and Blazing Angels. Also, hire English voice actors that don't sound like retarded 7th graders.

F-Zero: The same great expirience, but with a Burnout-esque physics engine and Need for Speed-esque machine customization.

Mother: A game thats actually released in the U.S. would always help.

Re: What would you like to see in each of Nintendo's next franchises?

A sequel to Mario 64? What did you think Mario Galaxy was?

Jesus, I hate when fanboys insist that Nintendo regurgitate decade-old formulas. I for one want the next Mario game to do something fresh and exciting, like Mario Galaxy did. (That game did a really good job of incorporating old and new).

That's what Twilight Princess should have done for the Zelda series, and if the next one doesn't, I'm ready to just give up all hope on the franchise.

Re: What would you like to see in each of Nintendo's next franchises?

I love this topic.

Mario - I am 100% happy with the way Nintendo handles the main (non-sports/kart/party/underwater basket weaving) series. Super Mario Bros, Bros 3, World, 64, Sunshine, Galaxy... how could I compain? Although I think that Mario could benefit from voice acting. It would make the mushroom kingdom a much more entertaining place and I think that they could really make a hilarious game if done right.

Donkey Kong - All I want is for it to return to a platformer. Less Barrel Blast, more DKCountry plzkthx.

Metroid - A new 2D Metroid would pretty much make my life. The 2D castlevanias on the DS have such amazing visuals. A 2D Metroid on the DS would be amazing. Though I wouldn't complain if the next Metroid was 3D on Wii.

Star Fox - A true sequel to SF64 would be awesome. Rail shooters are a hard genre to make these days, but with good level design (and replay value), maybe an arwing upgrade system, and top notch voice acting (Cant let you do that...), the game could be great.

Pokemon - For some reason, I didn't get that much into Diamond/Pearl. The whole game felt very sluggish to me and I thought that the new pokemon were the weakest ever added. I would love for the pokemon to adopt a new artstyle (maybe a more colorful handdrawn look like the dungeon games) and some excellent new pokemon.

F-Zero - F-Zero GX was so fun that they really don't need much change to the series. If they added a massive online racing mode like 30 people (highly unlikely, yet nerdgasmic) it could easily become Wii's best online game. The next game should also feature (as always) a massive amount of tracks and ships, sweet graphics, and fast FAST paced racing.

The Legend of Zelda - Things I want in the next Zelda game: A new plot (for the love of God), lots of sidequests, rupees and items that are actually worth something, and more Zelda goodness.

Re: What would you like to see in each of Nintendo's next franchises?

Fire Emblem needs to go back to it's epicness that was FE4 and FE5. HARD and INNOVATING!

Also, Nintendo needs originality. Oh wait, nevermind.

Re: What would you like to see in each of Nintendo's next franchises?

Here is what I have to say.

Mario: I'm alright with where Mario is. Another Stranded Mario game soon would be good.
Zelda: Higher difficulty. Twilight Princess and Phantom Hourglass were easy.
Star Fox: Star Fox Adventures sequel. I loved that game.
Smash brothers: Bigger music range.
F-Zero: A Wii version.

Re: What would you like to see in each of Nintendo's next franchises?

Here's one for Star Fox. If Nintendo ever gets their collective head around decent online play, I'd like to see something akin to a Battlefield-style multiplayer experience, with clearly-defined character classes for different situations. Engineers, medics, snipers, spies, demolition specialists, scouts... yes, I'm just listing Team Fortress characters, but this was my intention. Vehicles, too; Arwings, Landmasters and Wolfens aplenty. Different game modes ranging from all-out team deathmatch through capture the flag (no vehicles for this one, obviously) to one team defending control points while the other team tries to capture them.

Re: What would you like to see in each of Nintendo's next franchises?

I'd like to see something more akin to bounty hunting for Star Fox. As in, choosing a mission like escorting, defeating a boss, defeating another bounty group etc., and get paid for it.

Re: What would you like to see in each of Nintendo's next franchises?

Or that. Star Fox is supposed to be a mercenary group, and yet they never seem to get any proper mercenarying done. Fair enough, they got paid a disproportionate amount of money at the end of Star Fox 64, but most of the time they seem to be doing what the Cornerian Army's supposed to be doing. Fox needs to start putting his pocketbook first.

I really don't consider either of those games seeing as they mostly serve as wii-mote tutorials. But it's sad that nothing can't be named that isn't a weird collection of mini-games.

And that's not to say the old franchises aren't good. But since they are, why not make another good one?
