Phantasy Star Zero

A brand new title in the Phantasy Star series was just announced by SEGA.



Entitled Phantasy Star ZERO, this will be the series' first outing on the Nintendo DS. ZERO is said to be a completely new game, though it will borrow heavily from the Phantasy Star Online series. This new title will feature a single-player story mode as well as multi-player online through Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection and local area networks (both up to four players). Multi modes will allow for communication through visual chat, which allows players to draw their own artwork or write their own text for their teammates to see.



Keeping in touch with its apparent predecessor, Phantasy Star ZERO will have the return of many race/job combos from Phantasy Star Online. This includes ones such as RAcast, FOmarl, HUmar and HUcaseal, but a few newcomers have also been revealed like the HUnewm and HUmarl. Furthermore, this new title will feature many new areas and lobbies to explore. Three such areas include the Glacea Ravine, Riou Snowfields and the Ozett Swamp. Information is a bit scarce on this new title, but we can expect to see more details in the coming months, as ZERO is slated for a Japanese release this winter.

Update #2: The official Japanese PS0 website has been launched! A few important notes from what the site offers include the confirmation of character creation and that there will be a total of three races (human, newman, android) and 14 race/job combos in the game. Also, the main stage (though still unnamed) will be the surface of the planet as well as its moon.

A DS phantasy star, I can't wait to be honest. I think I'll import the Japanese verion when it comes out. I heard about it the day this information was released in Japan. I'm not hte largest Phantasy Star fan, but this specific game is meant to be similar to Phantasy Star Online, that being the only one I like. It looks so awesome, as you can see there are scans in that quote. I really want it. My brother and I are planning to play this game co-operatively 24/7. He's going to get a DS just for this game. Discuss this fantastic piece of awesomeness.

This **** is the best Phantasy Star announcement in a while. Hope it has the level of character customization that PSU has along with all of those other cool features (also return of the ****ing MAGs man).

I know, I'm really happy. It's based off of PSO. That's genious. They're brilliant. PSO was by far the biggest of the games and obviously they'll get more sales if they base it off of Online.

Interesting. I very much enjoyed PSO for the Gamecube, this might be quite promising.

I played PSO on my gamecube and computer before. And I played a bit of PSP. I hope this game is good. (It should be.)
Also, I want it. And.. Are you saying they got rid of mags..? If they did, they'd better be in the DS game..

I just realized something, Phanstasy Star 0 uses pictochat. Pictochat was created for drawing phalli. You can't filter a drawing. This game will be flooded with penis. Best game ever.

The information was only realeased IN JAPAN mind you, a few days ago....so it'll be awhile. I'ma import it though because I can't wait.

Dude that's sweet! I tried PSO on the GC but I got bored with it because I had no internet. However now that I have a good internet connection I can play this.

This is wierd, The other day I was thinking when another PSO game would come to a nintendo console.

While an online DS rpg is nice. I hope one day they'll make a PSO for Wii. Maybe with Wiispeak support?

Phantasy Star Online Blue Burst was a great game. If PSZ is anything like it, then awesome.

Either way would be fine, just as long as the feature gets a true sequel transition. This game also needs Phantasy Star Universe's battle system too with a bunch of new elements, then it would truly be the best PSO game to date.

I guess the old mag list and photon blast collection would be okay. The photon blasts I usually got for Forces were never that great, though. I must not have known what I was doing. You mentioned a sequel transition. That's enough news for me, as I'm sure the gameplay itself will be something to look forward to.

liked Online's gameplay. My brother has Universe and he's been paying for it for 2 years? A long time, he's max level...and I never got to play it much...so all I know about it was what I witnessed.

If they bring back TP and get rid of the ammunition for Rangers (they're weak enough as it is I don't see why they need ammo to limit them even more) then yes, best PSO to date.

The game looks pretty darn good, it looks kind of like what Matrix was trying to do, but always ended up going with the chibi look.

with all these features that are supposed to be in this game, coupled with a great single player game should definitely make for one nifty adventure. I never got into Phantasy Star but if the game gets solid reviews around then I'll definitely pick it up.
