New Tony Hawk Game - Snowboarding included

Activision has officially announced Tony Hawk's next outing, this time for the Nintendo DS. Tony Hawk's Motion will be, as you might have guessed from the title, is a motion controlled affair. What you might not have guessed was that snowboarding events would be added to the series starting now.

Pro snowboarder Todd Richards will play second fiddle to Hawk in the handheld game, with the back up sport adding "more than 20 diverse mini-challenges" to the game. We're mini-excited.

Tony Hawk's Motion takes advantage of the Motion Pack, according to the fact sheet distributed today, which casually mentions it as if we know what the hell that is. It does remind us of this ancient rumor, though. And this one. Perhaps current gen console are getting their own taste of Tony Hawk's Motion soon.

All I can say is, yuck.

Sounds fun.

But...

I'm trying to figure out what drives me bonkers the most: All the Madden games or Tony Hawk?

At least this particular version will provide something different.

Skate kicked their asses so much and now they're getting desperate. Kind of a shame, because a few of the THPS games were pretty awesome. I hope they actually innovate some of the gameplay elements in the core series itself instead of focus on gimmicks like this, or else this franchise is going to become more and more irrelevant.

THPS2 is my absolute favorite. Everything about it was awesome. And there's just something about being able to skate as Spiderman that makes it epic a hundred fold.

I started losing interest with THPS4, where you have to go around and complete tasks. Bleh.

THPS2 is definitely my favourite Tony Hawk game as well. Had a couple of great levels to skate, School 2 for example. But yeah, the series pretty much went downhill after THPS4.

I've grown pretty fond of THUG, though. Even it has the whole task-completing system implementation.

Yeah, I think THPS2 is the best game as well. Everything after that has been on the meh side, though I did enjoy Project 8.

But if you haven't played it yet, check out Skate. It came out of nowhere and literally did everything better than the recent Tony Hawk games. There had actually been a new Tony Hawk game every year until this year, and many feel like that it was because Skate completely one-upped everything they did, so they had to refocus their strategy. Skate did have its share of problems though, but it's honestly the best skateboarding game I've ever played. They're working on a second one too, and so far it sounds great. I remember playing Tony Hawk 1 and 2 for the N64. They were good and enjoyable. Now I just lost track on the Tony Hawk games, too many of them, and just seems to be getting worse and worse to me.

Yeah, I don't really have much interest in the TH series at all anymore, used to love them back when 1 & 2 were out, but everything else kinda felt like the same ol, with stuff added in that was really over the top. Skate was brilliant, I am a huge fan of this series now. The first one did have faults, but yeah they are fixing them (just giving me the option to get off the board is enough to have me excited since the little curbs were sometimes a pain in the ass in the first.)
