Runescape

I logged into runescape for the first time in almost a year, and I was pleasantly surprised. IN high detail in full screen, the graphics look pretty good. much better than before. The speed chat thingy was stupid, but I kinda see how it might be useful. the music actually sounded like instruments! I remember it used to sound so much like a blippity bleepy atari that I would just play without the sound on, but the music actually sounded pretty good through my speaker system (granted it's a damn good speaker system). Although, my joy quickly faded once I remember I could pk or trade my items. what the hell...

There's the Morytania Campaign plotline, the Witchhaven plotline, and the Rise of the Red Axe series, to name my favorites.
In some ways, RS is better than WoW, because you can have 25 or something proffesions for one character.

Oh, and the creator, Andrew Gower has 17 million just from Runescape, not counting Jagex's other games.

Almost everyone who heard of Runescape, played it. Rather it be for 9 months, or 2 minutes.

If you're trying to reason that Runescape has more in-depth character customization than WoW, don't bother. WoW has 10 races, 10 radically different classes (counting the Death Knight), and the professions aren't all about left clicking something for hours so you can sell it and/or use it in a weapon for more left clicking.

Blizzard's made hundreds of millions from WoW with less than one tenth the amount of players of Runescape (going on your numbers...)
They also spent more than $20 designing the game.

Hey, one thing that I like about RS so much is the amount of freedom designing a character. You can design him to every detail.

The music is good. Some songs are annoying, but others are okay.
Listen to Beyond, Kingdom, or Advance. There're a lot of good songs, albeit a few dumb ones.
By RPG, i should have said MMO.
And you can design your character uniquely.
You can choose hair, face, clothes...
There's maybe 500 combinations.

That said, Runescape still isn't a good game. Even with updated graphics. Also, other MMORPG's have much better and more combinations, such as City of Heroes and City of Villains, which have thousands (maybe millions) of combinations. In games like WoW, you're always changing because of new equipment. The music isn't that good. It doesn't really fit with the environment around it.

Wow I check an account to see the "high resolution", which is not much of a difference, and it said last time I logged in was 1407 days ago. I can't believe it kept track.

Ok, I'm gonna make it plain and simple. Runescape isn't the worst you can do for MMOs. It's not the best for obvious reasons but it's not the worst either. The whole thing is a lot better when you're a member. I say this from experience, but once you're out, you're out.

As of recent though, the game has fallen. They took away the freedom. Once they started getting all paranoid about real world traders it went down the tubes. Eventually a new MMO (at an affordable monthly rate or a flat fee) with freedom will pop up. When you can walk up to a guy and kill him for his stuff I'll be in on it.

Runescape has gone downhill even with all their improvements.

Bull**** number. There are ten million currently activated free accounts, and significantly less P2P accounts. Keep in mind that a lot of those ten million accounts are duplicate characters or people that have quit.

A) Your thinking of Oblivion, not RS.

130 million do not play runescape. That is a ridiculous number. 125 million accounts have been created, but 130 million people do not play the game. Hell, Jagex only has 169 worlds that can hold only 2000 people. Even if every single server was full, the sum would only be 338,000 people. There are never that many people online though, so the numbers are more closer to what Mukora stated.

Chess is not the first capture the flag.
Chess was made for future war generals, among others, to test their strategic war skills. It was not "Okay let's all go capture this flag and it'll be over, we just gotta move fast!", which is exactly what capture the flag is, instead chess is about strategy and planning out your moves, predicting what your opponant will do.

That is nothing, at all, like capture the flag.

They hold 3000 dudes.
So I Can see 125 million accounts.
There's usually 700 k people on.
Lots of people play.

No, there's only 169 worlds; they only hold 2000 "dudes". There couldn't possibly be 700,000 people on at one time. It is literally impossible. Did you not read my last post? Jagex would have to make 181 more severs to allow that many users to play. And each and every one of those servers would have to full, which doesn't even happen with only 169 servers. I just went to Runescape right now and I only saw 5 servers full. Only around five other servers were close to being full (1500 people or above).
