My Hack: Ashura in Sonic the Hedgehog
I know, there are a few other hacks with Ashura in Sonic 1, but I started this before I knew about those hacks.
So far, I have most of the pallets done, and very very little level layout change. The zones are (following the first letter in first word is same as first letter in second word, like Sonic CD): Tree Top Zone (Green Hill Zone) Rusty Realm Zone (Marble Zone) [incorrect spelling currently in title card] Skyland Skiball Zone (Spring Yard Zone) Canopy Cane Zone (Labyrinth Zone) Moon Midnight Zone (Star Light Zone) Poison Plant Zone (Scrap Brain Zone) Metal Mine Zone (Final Zone) I have a picture of Rusty Realm Zone for you:  Skyland Skiball:  Canopy Cane:  Moon Midnight:  I don't have a download up yet though. Also note, I will release the IPS patch, which means that it is perfectly legal, and you would need the original ROM to run it anyways. BTW: Mods, I feel this was the right section. Feel free to move it if it is in the incorrect spot.

Moon Midnight Zone looks the best IMO.
Skiland Skiball looks a bit bland for my tastes. But anyway, looking good there. How long have you spent on this project?

Yeah, Ashura is an old sprite that I was going to use in one of my fangames.... I never actually went through the trouble to go and do the thing in sonic 2, since it was only in this one spot and you had to be in an EXACT spot to view him... or at least thats what i found out after searching the net a long time ago.
But a nice hack ^^. I always likle the way Ashura looked, I still have the sprites. It's the Sonic 2 Ashura, not a Sonic 1 style one.... I have the hack thing that is Metal Sonic in Sonic 1 and Espio in Sonic 1, and they are pretty cool, can't wait for the dl of your hack.
