Re: Resident Evil

I think Resident Evil 4 is inferior to the first three games and Code Veronica because they changed the way the games worked, it went from mostly puzzle, some shooting to mostly shooting, some puzzle. If I want massacres I'll play GTA or something

I think it's is not Inferior, just a different style of gameplay.

Re: Resident Evil

I love the style they used on 4.
But I like the old games more.

My fave RE game is RE1 remade for Gamecube.

Re: Resident Evil

Rebirth is indeed one of the better games in the series

Well maybe I used the wrong choice of words, I think it is inferior, it's not a fact of course even though Resident Evil 4 is more balanced and has an overall better experience, I liked the former games because it was true survival horror. Resident Evil 4 was more run and gun than puzzle, which I didn't like.

Yeah, I get your point, I got scared in the originals way more than in 4. The first time the dog jump through the window, I dropped my controller.

Re: Resident Evil

Well I didn't really get scared the first time the dog jumped through the window. The only time I really freaked out was when one of the dogs that jumps through the window next to the save room where you meet Rebecca, went under the stairs without me knowing it and jumped at from (it seemed) out of nowhere as silent as a ninja.

Re: Resident Evil

Am I the only one who just completely sucks at survival horror games? I mean, I've done crazy **** like beating everything in F-Zero GX, Ninja Gaiden on ninja master, Super Ghouls and Ghosts, and many other infamously difficult games, but I can't play survival horrors on anything above easy mode.
I run out of ammo, and I can't dodge monsters worth a damn. Fortunately, the easy modes of games like Silent Hill and Resident Evil make the games at an enjoyable difficulty for me.

Unfortunately Code Veronica X has no difficulty select, and I've been stuck for a while. I have 1 hit left, and there doesn't seem to be any health anywhere, just ammo, ammo, and more ammo. I just beat the first bandersnatch, got the Ashford family plaque and made it back to the Ashford manor (which is now infested with Zombies) to put the gold Lugers in the door.

I missed the Bowgun, but I have about 143,557,854,245,768 arrows for it. Apparently it was in that room in the training facility that is now barred off because of the toxic levels behind the door or something.

This is not looking good since there are Bandersnatches appearing places now too and all I have is a handgun, 50 bullets, and 1 hit left.

I restarted so many times when I was trying to play through Code Veronica. It actually took my about two years to finally beat the damn game.

Re: Resident Evil

I gave up on Code Veronica a while ago, I was stuck in an impossible spot to get out of ,though I don't completely remember. Wish I still had it, now I could beat since I have more patience.

Well, I managed to get a first aid spray, so now I have full life at least. Hopefully I don't need to restart.

Let me give you a tip here: once you get the bowgun, make sure you don't use any of the explosive arrows until the crate-launching part.

Re: Resident Evil

Damn, I still can't get the bowgun because the bio room door is still ventilating and I'm almost out of handgun ammo. (Haven't found the grenade launcher yet either and I used up the duel hand guns), does anyone know when it opens again? I need that gun.

Edit: Sweet! I found the emblem key which led to my getting the grenade launcher and getting that door to open all at once. I now have plenty of ammo, and health items. I will conserve carefully now.

Edit 2: Ha ha. Onto disc 2, with 29 explosive arrows still left (though I used all my grenades)

Re: Resident Evil

I love all the main RE games. My favorites are Resident Evil 2 and then Resident Evil Remake (liked the original, but when this one came out, I loved it even more.) Resident Evil 3 was cool and Resident Evil 4 was good as well. I still remember my first encounter with Mr. X in RE2 as he busted through the wall. Freaked the crap out of me.

Mister X was the best Tyrant ever!

He scared me more than Nemesis, because of his awesomeness

Re: Resident Evil

I'm a stern traditionalist when it comes to the RE series. I definitely prefer the old gameplay over the new style, but I can concede that it isn't bad at all, just not suited for Resident Evil.

My main concern is the sudden shift of pace in the storyline. The original three games culminated in the destruction of Raccoon City, and heavily implied Umbrella would be taken down once and for all, especially in Resident Evil 2.

However, we weren't given that satisfaction at all, the story just took a sudden and giant leap forward and turned what was at least slightly plausible(a genetically modified virus created by a large corporation) and in turn switched for a purely mystical and downright absurd
cultist in cahoots with a midget who housed a parasitic creature.

I'd infinitely prefer if Capcom reverted to the playing style of Outbreak since pre-rendered graphics are of the past, and revised the storyline and forget RE4 ever happened.

Re: Resident Evil

Have you seen the Resident Evil 4 Beta? The one with the hook and the puppets? That looks like an awesome game if they were to ever bring it out...

The scariest thing about him was that there would be no indication whatsoever that he was in the room with you then BAM! you turn a corner and he's in your face.
Nemesis was obvious because he would continuosly yell S.T.A.R.S.

Yay! I beat Code Veronica! In two days no less. 16 and a half hours, that was WAY longer than the others.......and harder.

Was this your first play-through of Code: Veronica? It took me weeks to complete the game my first time...
