Favorite Controller

Okay... This has been bugging me a long time. I feel that the PS2 controller could be the best controller ever if the joysticks were tightened up, but alas they are not going to do it, so I have to go with the XBOX for best controller.

Re: Favorite Controller

I like the GameCube controller. Why? It's simply the easiest to use. It fits your hands the best, all the buttons are easily accessable and require little position learning, the shoulder triggers are the best I've used, and the sticks are probably the best out of all of the controllers...though XBox comes close to them.

Re: Favorite Controller

I also like the Gamecube controllers. They do fit your hand, and the controls are easy to get used to (well, for me o_o). Then comes the PS2 (preferrably Dualshock.) Lastly, I would have to say X-Box S, cause those feel way better than the huge ass ones.

Re: Favorite Controller

I say the GC one also because it's so easy to get used to, then comes the PS2 controller.

Gamecube. Playstations doesnt feel right and X-boxes is just way to big. The dreamcast one was OK but gamecube is the best by far, especially with the wireless capabilities!

Re: Favorite Controller

Yeah, I prefer the GC controller; why? Because it just feels so natural in my hands(next to the N64 controller, which, BTW, you forgot to include.

Re: Favorite Controller

lol, I didn't include the N-64 cause it is just way too messed up, you couldn't use all of the pads smoothly, you had to move your hands to use the d-pad and other things like that.

So? all the buttons that you would normally use were in easy to use postitions, buttons that you can't reach don't matter if you never use them. I myself have to go with Gamecube, see above posts for the reason why.

Re: Favorite Controller

NES BABY! I mean come on, 4 buttons total, 1 d-pad, it don't get much better than that. Less is more right?

Who needs shoulder buttons and control sticks, you only need a d-pad and A and B to play great games such as, ExciteBike, MarioBros(all of em) LOZ! Hello!? The Nintendo Entertainment System controller is quiet possiblily, the best invention ever made(next to the lazy boy recliner).

Second place runner up, GC controller, reason? Go ^ there and read sear's post, I agree with him 100%

Re: Favorite Controller

Its silly to compare controllers from across generations. The function of the SNES controller is different than that of the N64, and so on.

For its time, I prefer the Gamecube controller, even with its egregious problems. Functionally, I think the base design is both more comfortable and useable than its competitiors. However, design flaws in the shoulder buttons, and analogue sticks keep it from being able to truly shine.

I also preferred the N64 controller. Thank you for establishing a control stick as the norm! (I cannot tell you how I despise a normal control pad type a la the Playstation controller in main position during a 3D game).

Re: Favorite Controller

I liked how you had to hold the N64 controller, Especially when playing the games that require the Z button (which is practically all N64 games). The gamecube one is very good (mainly because I use it the most often) but If the Gameboy (Color or Advance) counted I would pick that. When playing Crystal Chronicals I thought that using the Gamboy was fun. The gameboy color only has 5 buttons (A, B, Select, Start, and Directional pads). It was the most comfortable out of all of them.

Re: Favorite Controller

I prefer the gamecube, but i must give props to the unmentioned Genesis 6 button controller i have, i'm not even sure if it's 1st party, but it's smaller, not the wing shpae and has a convient 6 button setup. I would also argue for the second generation NES controllers as they are much better to hold than the boxs the originals were.

Of course my ideal controller is right along the lines of the GameCube's with a movement of 'z' which should forever be established as the trigger button.

I think that if Nintendo makes the next system backward compatible witht he games of the Gamecube they should make the controller ports also.

Re: Favorite Controller

Did I just do this poll a month ago or so? The answer is simple. N64. I know a lot of people who agree with me on that one. The N64 was and always will be the greatest controller of all time. The X-box will always be the worst.

Re: Favorite Controller

XBox Controller S.

The Gamecube controller is far too small for my hands, both with respect to the L, R, and Z buttons, and the actual positioning of the grips. I've found myself disliking the short grip of the PS2 over the course of using my XBox and Gamecube. The Controller S, on the other hand, fits my hands perfectly. The analog sticks are solid and responsive without any float. The trigger buttons have really nice give, and I like the position and prioritization of non-priority buttons. I like the weight of it, and the strength of the rumble. It's nice to have the longer cord, as well.

Re: Favorite Controller

Still the Gamecube controller stands above the rest in ZU votes.

Gamecube. Everyone up above me who picked it already stated the reasons. It's comfortable. Easy to use with the A button the center. It fits just right. I'd like Nintendo to stay with the same type of design in the future, yet tweak with it to improve on its small problems.
