It might be a good idea to create a user group for this game, so we can discuss events in AC when we aren't playing.

Can't wait for it. I would very much like to see what Nintendo could do with a larger town and more room for neighbours instead of endless trees.

Except that the town supposedly isn't larger.

I like what nintendo has done with the town. It's a city so I think thats pretty cool. I also like the Wii Speak speaker bundled in with the games. I have been wanting nintendo to make some sort of communication device. I still would prefer a headpeice for the speaker like the 360.

If IGN actually knows what they're talking about, the towns are at least as big as DnM's towns. Good enough for me. WW's towns were way too small.

No, you don't live in the city. You only visit. You live in the same kind of town as the rest of the games.

Though I'm not sure how big this would work out to be, the map showed in the E3 demo of AC:CF looked a good size (and obnoxiously pretty compared to the previous AC games' maps):

There's also two modes: Houses and Buildings, but my guess is that they only affect the list on the right (which I'm guessing is sort of a touch-and-it-shall-be-located type thing).

^ That map looks great. Like the good parts of both the old ones combined into something even better.

Re: Animal Crossing: City Folk Speculation Thread

Ah, Animal Crossing wii is going to ruin my offline social life like a *****.

Graphics got an update. A definite jump over previous versions of the game.

Still looks like only 8 designs at the Able Sisters.

Fossils return.

Bedroom and telephone in the upstairs of the house, like in AC:WW.

Holidays are back. Bunny Day (you dig up bunny eggs), Halloween, and New Years have been revealed.

You take a bus to get to the city.

Villagers appear to roam the city.

There is an auction house, presided over by a gyroid named Lloid. You can put up your own items for auction.

There is a happy room academy building, presided over by Lyle, which lets you see what other players are doing (we assume this is decorating-wise).

Gracie makes her return a store called GracieGrace. Apparently Gracie is too chic to run it herself, and a character named Labelle runs it.

Harriet has a beauty shop you can visit to change your hairsyle, or even get a mask that looks like your Mii!

Communication is big. You can write letters to players and attach pictures, which can be sent to their towns, Wii Message boards, their computers, and even their cell phones.

New microphone called WiiSpeak. It is billed as a "community microphone" which will allow everyone in the room to speak to everyone in the rooms of people you're playing with.

There is a new clock/calendar design. Instead of being on the bottom right of the screen, it will be on the top left.

That's what we know so far! Hopefully, AC:CF will be playable on the show floor and more impressions and information will flood in in the next few days.

I wouldn't worry about that so much... I think large houses (more than likely larger than AC:WW's! ^_^) are a guarantee.

Of course it's still only with the people you've traded friend codes with.

While it's obviously hindering Nintendo's online market, you still have to respect a gaming company that holds out for "family-friendly" online play for this long. In fact that seems to be ironically one of the reasons that WiiSpeak was made, so that Nintendo could have their players finally use voicechat, but Soccermom Rita could still overhear the conversations that her Little Johnny was having with his 'online friends'.

You're telling me that you don't see an improvement of the graphics of Animal Crossing: City Folk when compared to Animal Crossing and Animal Crossing: Wild World?

The graphical style of the game is exactly the same, and is meant to have the same feel as the previous ones, but that doesn't mean that the graphics aren't at least somewhat better.

If it was public, it'd probably play out with all of the fanatics hogging the lists. Sure, you'd be able to have anyone buy your stuff, but if you ever tried to win an auction, you'd probably be overwhelmed by the thousands (perhaps millions) of people playing the game. This is a very popular franchise, and people become very engaged in it; any kind of worldwide online system would be flooded to the point where you wouldn't be able to do anything.

That's very true, but I was thinking more of having auctions specifically for the area that you live in, in real life (such as a small state, county, or just one city if it was big enough). Of course that would probably be too complicated to implement and might not work out well, so I understand Nintendo's choice in the matter.

The other problem is that hackers and seeders are going to hack/bring money from WW, so online money will be meaningless anyway.
If there's one thing that got killed when they announced that you could bring items over, it's this game's online "economy". Metroids for everyone!

I doubt the online will be hacked. The DS had an action replay and Nintendo couldn't update DS's to stop their use. The Wii doesn't have an action replay, and Nintendo usually updates to stop cheats. There is homebrew on Wii, but I don't think the online can be hacked. I've never even heard of the Wii's online games being hacked, so I think it will be alright.

Re: Animal Crossing: City Folk Speculation Thread

The only thing you'll have to worry about is choosing your online friends wisely.
Making sure you can trust them enough that they won't chop your trees.
Which really isn't a big deal, I mean just replant them.
Other then that seeders, no action replay for the Wii, like Deception said.
And Hopefully will stay that way.

Personally, I think City Folk is going to be flawless.
I Just gotta be happy with the game I start.

Anyone feel free to message me for a wii friend code.

EDIT: As long as the games good, graphics can kiss my ass.

Nope, they don't. But they sure as **** help. And when the Wii has more graphical power than this, it's almost offensive when they throw this polished N64 **** at me.
