...
What were you expecting, a fancy header? OK, let's get this show on the road. First off: This is
not by any means an
official tournament. That is up for the mods to decide. In fact, if the mods already have something planned, then they may lock this thread accordingly so. This was merely created to see how one would turn about and whether or not it will be successful. As you can tell, it was also rushed.
Anyways, I myself will not be joining this tournament (in case you are wondering). As your host, I will try to be online here at
ZU as much as possible. I do howsoever have a life outside of
ZU. If I don't immediately show up, it's all right, I will more than likely show up only a few hours later. In the event that I might not be able to fulfill my duties for some unknown reason, another person specifically appointed by me will take over if (s)he so willing chooses to do so. I will announce whom later on.
Now, to lay down the rules and regulations of the tournament (please read the following if you wish to participate):
- Participants: There will be a total of only 16 participants. First come, first serve. Those are the rules. Remember, I will stop at 16 players. I will make a bracket for the competition later on. Here is the list of participants this tournament:
Tournament Participants
- Kitsuné
- Urban Ninja
- Deception
- Verxis
- Triforce of the Gods
- Rajin95
- Jeff
- Qnez
- xlr8
- Ingo
- GrandMoffTarkin (disqualified: unable to participate)
- Twilight~09
- Lieutenant Lollipop
- Ed
- Argorok
- DrZaius1 (disqualified: unable to participate)
Waiting List
- I)ragon11
- zfttm64
- Hombre de Mundo
- Abyss Master
- lftenjamin
I am sorry, I am no longer accepting participants. You'll have to join next time. Please feel free to state whether you would like to join. Everyone else who requests to enter after DrZaius1 will be placed on the waiting list -- the people on this list will be able to join the tournament if one or more people cannot complete their match within the first round for whatever reason. It will also be taken into consideration whether we will have a 32 participant tournament next time, so don't hold out on us.
- Matches: The matches will be set up with 4 stock limit, as well as a 10:00 (minutes) stock time limit to ensure the quickness of the matches. To set a stock time limit, go to: Rules > More Rules > Stock Time Limit > Then simply set it to "10:00". There will be 3 matches total between each opponent the first 2 rounds (best 2/3), and 5 matches in the last 2 (best 3/5). In case you didn't pay attention, that's:
- 16 players/First Round (3 matches)
- 8 players/Second Round (3 matches)
- 4 players/Semi-Finals (5 matches)
- 2 players/Finals (5 matches)
I will choose who will face who at random. Time of matches will be assigned by selected participants -- figure out amongst yourselves when is the best time for both of you. Howsoever, please do not take a prolong amount of time to formulate your match, otherwise I will appoint a time for you. If one or both players do not show up at their agreed scheduled match, that person or those people will be automatically disqualified.
- Levels: All levels will be neutral; there will be no counterpicks. Meaning that they will be chosen randomly between specific levels. Most tournaments use Final Destination, Battlefield, and Smashville; that is what we will use. We will also use Yoshi's Island as well. Said stages will be chosen randomly. To choose the stages that are selected randomly in Brawl, go to: Rules > More Rules" (located at the bottom) > Random Stage Switch > then simply turn off all other stages aside from said permissible ones. If you don't have this option avaliable to you yet, you will not be allowed to join the tournament. Believe me, if you haven't even unlocked all the stages yet, you shouldn't be joining tournaments.
- Items: Because there are those that are persistent in advocating items, I will make this fair on you: If you and your opponent agree on allowing items, you may do so. Otherwise, there are absolutely no items allowed.
- Connection Issues: Now, due to Nintendo's poor online service, there will undoubtedly be connection issues. A few general rules: If both participants agree that they cannot play against each other due to serious lag, I will be willing to set different matches with other participants. If no other participants are available at the time, you must either deal with it or you are disqualified. If only one person finds their match unfit for play, they must kill themselves entirely before they loose one life. If you are killed at least once, you must finish all matches. Both you and your opponent report back here. If no one else is available, either try again with your opponent or else you're disqualified. I will deal with any other possible dilemmas personally.
- Have Fun: The most important thing is to have fun and enjoy yourself. This is a friendly competition. Please keep it clean and be truthful. If you are causing any trouble, you will be disqualified. Mocking, name calling, poor sportsmanship, or anything of the sort is not allowed in this thread and competition.
Important: If you do not have the "More Rules" option, you cannot participate.
Simple enough? If you do not agree to the rules above, you may not participate. These rules are here in order to make sure everyone has an enjoyable time with the least amount of bickering as possible.
Feel free to ask anything or add any suggestions or comments until the time at the end of requests for participation. Also, please,
PLEASE do not spam this thread up. Only posts regarding the tournament are allowed. Enjoy.
Here is the tournament bracket. It will be updated every round:
This will be a single-elimination tournament -- once you lose, you're out of the tournament. Competitors, please talk over with your opponents what time you will schedule your match.
Please don't take a long time. Feel free to use the thread to schedule your matches, but please don't make it spammy. So work together to find out what time will be good for both of you. View the lists of rules if you are unsure about anything regarding the matches, or ask me directly and I'll be happy to help.
And the winner of the tournament is...
Verxis
Congratulations! Your prize is... the self-satisfaction of you being number one! And isn't that the greatest prize of them all?
Let this tournament finally come to close. I hope you all had fun. Next time I create a tournament, I plan on introducing 32 participants as well as perhaps giving away banner prizes to the top 3 contestants. So, I hope you all look forward to it.
