Diablo III announced

After days of speculation over the splash images on the Blizzard website, Diablo III has officially been announced at Blizzard's Worldwide Invitational.

I'll sum up the information revealed once it's all out, but you can keep up with the live blog at IGN here.

Edit: Actually, screw a big update. Just go to the game's official website. It has the trailer, a gameplay video, some screenshots and some information.

Re: Diablo III announced

Eh, Not that interested, especially after I lost interest half way into Diablo II, due to the extremely repetitive gameplay.

Though I'll keep an eye out to see what 'new' things they'll add to it.

Re: Diablo III announced

Eh, reading the IGN write-up, so far it sounds almost exactly the same as II, just with better graphics.

The problem with II was not the graphics, it was the ludicrously repetitive gameplay.

I guess we'll see if they managed to fix that this time 'round.

Re: Diablo III announced

Already people are complaining about it being too colorful. Good god. If there is anything that I think games need to be more of these days, it's more colorful—something other than brown and gray.

That's one thing Blizz has been good about lately, and they've gotten nothing but crap for it. It only looks colorful in comparison to most uber-realism we are used to seeing.

Re: Diablo III announced

Indeed, games should be colourful, especially swords 'n sorcery games like Diablo.

Re: Diablo III announced

People have been rumour-mongering this game for years, thank god Blizzard is finally giving in.

Diablo II was pretty damn fun, and although it wasn't the best game in the world, it was definitely worth playing. III can only improve upon the formula. I'm just hoping that my beloved Druid isn't as crappy in this game as he was in the last.

Re: Diablo III announced

Finally. I've gotten really fed up with Blizard milking WoW so much and not releasing anything else. Hopefully with Starcraft 2 on the way the trend is broken. (Warcraft 4, anyone?)

I can undertsnad that they wanted to focus on WoW, but I am so glad that they are looking towards their other franchises a bit now too. Can't wait!!!

YES! I'm actually in the middle of replaying Warcraft 3 as we speak. I'm on the Undead Campaign of The Frozen Throne.

Re: Diablo III announced

To be honest, I had almost lost hope. When Hellgate was initialy announced, everyone kept saying it was the closest we'd get to a D3, but now I'm happy. D2 was quite repetitive, but that what I liked about it, it was a great way to relax and just pound the **** out of seemingly endless hordes of cows. There was also the fun of collecting items, trying to get a whole set. It was one of the first series in which I greatly prefered the second game over the first (although Diablo was still also amazing). No doubt I'm reserving a copy. I am quite interested to see how the story will play out seeing as the soul stones were destroyed.

Re: Diablo III announced

Judging from what they've shown us thus far, D3 looks especially worth the wait. They've kept the core mechanics, jumbled things about a bit, then stuck the lot in a blender with concentrated win and set it to purée. I'm going to have especially a lot of fun with the fully-destructable enviroments.

Anyway, the graphics look fresh at atmospheric (as they should be for a Diablo game), and the storyline premise has me more than just glued to the screen; it has me mortified. Things are looking up! This has been a great decade indeed for gaming.

Also, in relation to the "evil penguin" gag in the teaser pages, I've changed my sig as a sort of in-joke. Personally, I hope it catches on.

Embarrassed to say I've never played Diablo before. However after seeing that I think I've found myself a new favorite game, I mean wow. That was just incredible looks awesome, cannot wait for it to come out, sadly they haven't even ball parked the release day yet....

Re: Diablo III announced

Wow... at least they have an official website before the game is released. Unlike Nintedo, they don't even make an official website for TP before it's release... instead they make it like 5 months after TP releases... um what?
