classics vs. Newbies
Do you guys remember when you would go to the store, grab the latest version of street fighter 2, pop it in your genesis/snes and duke it out with your friends for hours? I gotta say, classic gaming just has a certain magical touch that you just don't get when you play a newer game. I'm not saying I hate new games, I certainly enjoyed final fantasy 10, twilight princess, and metroid prime, but classic games always have a place in my heart.
which do you prefer? Do you like the new high res, next gen games of today? Or do you like the pixelly classic games of yesteryear? I myself like both alot, although I'm surprised how many people hate classics! I brought my gameboy color to my family reunion, and my cousin said I was stupid for playing that old thing instead of my DS. well anyway, DISCUSS!

Re: classics vs. Newbies
It really depends on the game. I'd rather be playing Sega Genesis's Sonic the Hedgehog games compared to the 360's, but I'd rather be playing Oblivion than Daggerfall.
I mean, some old games are great, but some suck crap. Same thing can be said for the newer games. It also varies between the series. For example, in The Elder Scrolls, you go from this... ![]() to THIS: ![]() Also, all the newer Elder Scrolls games have been much smoother and easier. Everything is even and balanced in Oblivion and there are no useless skills. Like Daggerfall's "Be able to talk to imps" skill. However, in some series, like Sonic The Hedgehog and Starfox (disregarding SFC) just went to hell with the newer games.

Re: classics vs. Newbies
Damn, I've never had a family reunion.
Anyways, when I was a little boy, I really enjoyed video games. I'd always beg my parents to rent a game, any game. I would play any video game in the world for hours and hours. You name it, I'll play it. I even played Superman 64 and loved it. But, nowadays, I see every little flaw in video games. I'm never happy with anything. I always need the best of the best; the cream of the crop. It's a shame, really. I'm also losing my love for video games. I don't know why. I think that over time, you become spoiled. So you expect more and more from games. That's why right now you can't just pick up any game and enjoy it. It has to have the best graphics and the best gameplay to satisfy. Sure, I still love some of the older games, but that's because I have nostalgic feelings for them. However, I do enjoy the days when gaming was a fun easy-going hobby, rather than the huge money-making industry it is today. All I hear today is ______ system is gonna win.
