If you'll notice, that was the first time I EVER said anything about it, and I was trying to be as polite as I could. Sorry if it offended you.

And in order to ignore it, I would have to ignore all of your posts. And I always considered your posts interesting enough to read.

No you wouldn't. I'd say about 1/1000 of my total posts have Luigi mentioned. I certainly do not talk about him a lot.

Hylian Princess: I guess that could work.

You talk about him in almost every post you make in General Gaming.

I think I remember reading that it was because people liked the Bowser sequences in TTYD (I don't remember if it was the developers or the consumers, though), so they took that idea further.

I think the turn-based PMs had better gameplay. Normally I don't like simple and traditional turn-based systems, but PM's was very well-done, and it didn't feel like just another RPG. It's in a league of its own.
I'll mention again how much I love their "low numbers" idea... I just hate when RPGs use enormous numbers. It always seems unnecessary.

EDIT: Really, guys, can we at least mention Luigi in a Paper Mario thread without a fight?

Re: Paper Mario!

I just checked through the "core title" thread and this thread (The two threads I was most refering to), and out of the 34 posts you made, 25 of them mentioned the word Luigi or Mr. L and discussed them for at least two sentences. And about 5 of those not discussing Luigi were responses to other people who commented on your posts about Luigi.

EDIT: I agree, the small number feature is great. I always hated like Final Fantasy where you did 2000 damage to an enemy who had 90,000 health. That always bugged me.

Re: Paper Mario!

News flash: Those aren't the only threads I post in.

Anyway, I like the small numbers too.

Re: Paper Mario!

I loved using Luigi in SPM, for some reason I've liked Luigi more than Mario, probably because he reminds me of me, my brother was always more popular with people than I was, so I was always 2nd when it came to him. I pretty much used him as much as possible when I get the chance. Same thing when it came to SMW

Re: Paper Mario!

Me too. I used him as much as I could. But I like Luigi because he's funny, really courageous, and owns Mario in just about everything they do: jumping, smarts, running, etc. The only thing Mario seems to be better in is physical strength.

I also loved it when Luigi hit a ceiling after doing the Super Jump. He just yelps and floats down looking like a Luigi pancake. XD

Yeah, that jump was taken right out of TTYD. =]

Re: Paper Mario!

SERIOUSLY. ENOUGH WITH NATTERING AT RANIL. EVERYONE, RANIL INCLUDED, DROP IT. If I hear another word about it, I might have to ask a mod to lock this thread, because it's taken up the majority of a page and that's ridiculous.

Returning to the POINT of this thread, I like small numbers that you can actually subtract. If there's more than two digits (three in the case of bosses, SOMETIMES) than I think it's ridiculous. With Paper Mario, it's easy, straight-forward, and to-the-point. You use an attack that deals 3 damage on an enemy with 2 HP and 1 defense. You deal 2 damage and kill the koopa. Yay.
I also like that the attacks have a given number of damage, but also that you can use the action command. Nothing too complex, not like rolling dice or anything silly. You take three damage, or you take six. Ding.
I was...kind of rambling there. Sorry.
And I loved Luigi's jump, as well as the Mega Jum in TTYD. I would do that just so they hit the ceiling. Fun.

I always sort of hated the Spring Jump because you couldn't move while in the air. Luigi's Super Jump is better. It just seemed kinda gimicky that all you could do with it was grab pipes, you know?

Re: Paper Mario!

Ah, yeah, you use it about five times in the whole game. Can't move and use it to get to high ledges or anything. Just grab a pipe three or four times, and knock the hammer off the shelf.
The paper abilities were much more useful, as well as perhaps my favorite part of the game. I loved rolling up into a tube. You go soooo much faster, and I would just roll up and stay that way until I had to mega jump or something like that. xD

Exactly, I like the way they think. They also handled leveling up well; You don't gain any attack or defense (unless you find better Boots in a treasure chest), but you can up your HP, FP, or BP, so rather than you getting stronger with the enemies, the enemies get stronger but it is easier for you to stand up to them (the harder ones). Either way, it works out to the same thing.
