Conker's Bad Fur Day

The Conker series has definitely gone through quite a bit of changes, wouldn't you say? Conker originated as a cute little squirrel character in Diddy Kong Racing, later making his debut in Conker's Pocket Tales, and soon after announced to be in an N64 platformer featuring bright colors and wacky platforming, not unlike Banjo-Kazooie (In fact, it looked even more child oriented). But then... months before it's release, the game was kind of changed.

Yeah. Kinda changed. After Bad Fur Day (Which sadly did not sell so well due to being released so close to the end of the N64 and Nintendo not wanting to do much advertisement), Rare announced Conker: Live and Reloaded, which was a remake of the N64 masterpiece as well as an online, 3rd person, class based team shooter. Quite a leap from his roots, that Conker, which is why I'm so interested in the franchise. I don't know why, but when a seemingly kid friendly franchise turns into an X-rated adults only platformer, it's kind of interesting to me (Though Conker doesn't seem as edgy as I remember BFD being).

Even the original N64 version's advertisement was pretty edgy, as well. What with the "Mepsipax" bottles that tell you to consume large amounts of alcohol while taking pills and the late night commercials featuring lots of sexual innuendo. There were also some awesome shirts and mugs sold at the release of the game.

Anyway, discuss Conker here. Be it his new installments as a foul-mouthed, sexually frustrated squirrel, or his classic games riding around in go-karts and finding birthday presents for Berri.

What do you thinks better, Conker's Bad Fur Day or Conker: Live and Reloaded? I would like to know so I know which one to get.

Re: Conker's Bad Fur Day

bad fur day was the first conker game I owned. I later got pocket tales borrowed bfd and rented live and reloaded a few times and.

I absolutely love the seres and Im wishing for a DS version.

Edit: Live and reloaded has bfd with superior graphics right on it plus a cool war game.
you'd definatley be better off getting it.

Re: Conker's Bad Fur Day

I thought it was quite funny and also the fact that it starts off as a p*** take of the movie Clockwork Orange.

It also seemed like a grown-up game too.

Re: Conker's Bad Fur Day

I just finished playing BFD, and I can honestly say that it's one of the best games I have ever played in my life. Disgustingly difficult at times, granted, but the amazing humour and brilliant game design makes up for it and then some.

I think everybody should play this game at least once, because there will never be anything else like it.

Am I basically the only gamer in existence who's never had an N64, in turn, never having played Conker's Bad Fur Day?

I really need to find an N64, don't I?

Yes, Kemata; you do. Get one immediately. Or else you will DIE!
Conker for the N64 is possibly the greatest "Rareware" game I have ever played. And Rareware happens to be one of my favourite game companies.
I could start a 6-paged essay on why I love this game.

Don't feel bad about it. I only obtained a copy about a month ago, after borrowing it off a friend in exchange for Lylat Wars (that's Starfox 64 to the non-Europeans).

But yes, you do need an N64 and this game.

Re: Conker's Bad Fur Day

I'm playing it right now. To be honest, I find the game badly-made, but that seems intentional, with it being a parody of platforming games in general.

Re: Conker's Bad Fur Day

That's one of the great things about this game. Anything that seems to be wrong with it can be passed off as intentional, with the possible exception of the embarrassingly hard later levels.

Re: Conker's Bad Fur Day

I have this game for Nintendo 64. It's definitely one of my favourite games.
The death scene, the Dracula clip and the Matrix part are my favourites *laughs*
(I've finished it many times=p)

A wonderful game, absolutely
(It even has a great multiplayer)

Yeah, that's why (for the first time ever) they highlighted the "M" rating in BIG letter(s).

Live & Reloaded. Better graphics, online multiplayer, high definition audio, great gameplay overall.
