Most Evil game character

Without them, video games would be quite dull. If we didn't have villains in videogames, the storylines would be... weird, to say the least. Villains are just as important as the heroes. Without Bowser, Ganondorf and Sephiroth, we wouldn't have some of the world's best games.

But enough of that.
Who's the most bad-ass videogame antagonist?

My vote would have to go to Kefka from Final Fantasy VI.

He's so insanely evil! He poisons and kills an entire kingdom. (Except for one citizen who becomes playable.) The entire kingdom of Doma is wiped out by Kefka. And what does he do afterwards? Giggles about it. He kills a whole lot of innocent people, and laughs about it.

Most villains want to take over the world, or destroy it, but are usually thwarted bt the hero before they can get the job done. Kefka, however, manages to do both. He destroys a very large portion of the world with his Light of Judgement, and he becomes ruler of what is left. And then what does he do? Laugh.

He is also a formidable foe in battle. Well, he's a big wuss when it comes to fistcuffs, but he knows like, every spell. And, the final time the party fights him, he becomes this massive angel-like monster.

So, yeah. Kefka.

My vote: Swiper

I don't exactly see things in terms of "good and evil". Evil is a term thrown around alot and used in places where it shouldn't be. Going off your examples, Sephiroth isn't really evil. He lost his mind, so that leads to everything else he does. He doesn't just decide to go destroy everything one day. Circumstances lead him to go crazy, and he spends the rest of the game in a state of nutcaseness. As for Bowser, he's a one-dimensional character, and really isn't all that evil at all. He tried to kidnap a princess, but he's never really done anything that can be considered "evil".

As for Ganondorf, well, he really doesn't have any reason to be doing what he does (as in laying waste to various nations). The character is described as the "King of All Evil", and that's exactly what he is. That what sets him apart from the majority of the video game villains I've encountered: his purpose in life seems to be subjugating everyone else for no reason at all. He's certainly the "evilest" character I've encountered in a video game.

You make several good points, Dr Zaius, but those three were just the first examples that I thught of. And they're antagonists nonetheless.

Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII

I will not say much here because if you've haven't played FFVII then you must and I don't want to ruin it for anyone who hasn't played it yet.



But anyone who remembers his cruel intentions at this time will definitely know how evil this part of the games was. How the game touched us and made us feel.

The end battle with Sephiroth is so exciting as well.

Yeah, that picture wouldn't give away the fact that Sephiroth kills Aeris about half way through the game at all.

You're right. And it certainly doesn't give away the fact that Hojo is actually Sephiroth's father.

The Wind Waker was the only game (finally) to give him a reason.

Simply speaking, he wanted to raise Hyrule above the sea to create a new land for his race, the Gerudo.

Anyway, go 'Dorf! I think he got a hell of a lot more intelligently implemented in TWW, but I hated him in TP.
