Question Okami

I have been thinking about picking up Okami for a while, and after reading the ZU review I probably will. I never played the ps2 version, so it will be totally new. I have a couple questions though-

How much is it?

How long is it?

Thanks for the hopefully soon to come help

Re: Okami

Okami is on the short side, no question. (Though not as short as it first seems.) I think it clocks in at around 40 hours, maybe less.

But I guarantee that it's worth every penny you pay for it. I spent $60 on my PS2 copy, and haven't regretted it at all.

Anyways, Best Buy seems to have it for $40 CND, which is a very nice price for such an amazing game.

Okami is the best Zelda game I've played.

Eh, for me it is, but I tend to play loooooooooooong games.

Actually, I'll have to check, but I think that my complete save clocks in at something just under 30, but it's been a long time and I'm not sure.

Since when 40 hours is short? Maybe for an RPG, that is, but Okami is not a RPG, it's more Zelda style. TP could be beaten in around 30 hours (I have 130 hours on my file, don't ask how I reached that number... ), so 40 hours is a really long action/adventure (with bits of RPG) game.

$40 for the Wii version. I think you can get the PS2 one for around $20. I'd recommend the PS2 version because it's cheaper.

But it doesn't have the Wiimote capabilities, and if the Wii version has better loading times (I imagine it does), then it would be WELL worth it.

The Wiimote controls are actually worse. It supposedly have better loading times, however. The graphics are also better in the PS2 version, though at the sacrifice of progressive scan and widescreen.

The Wii controls are annoying for combat, actually. For the brush, however, the controls are better because it takes less time to do some attacks.

Re: Okami

Well, I haven't tried the Wii controls, so I can't speak for the quality of them, but they seem to work tolerably enough for others, and I myself would probably sacrifice some quality and precision of the joystick for the novelty of guiding the brush with my own hand movements. It would seem more fun that way, I suppose. Its why I got a Wii, after all.

Why do you say that? I don't remember reading that they changed the graphics much at all, and the Wii would seem to have a better GPU than the PS2, plus progressive scan.

They couldn't transfer all of the effects over from the PS2 version that made Okami so beautiful. They eventually, after much hubabaloo from fans, did add in some new filters, but most will still tell you that the PS2 version looks much better.

What it comes down to is that the Wii version was not a fantastic port, where it should have been the definitive version. Now there is not one that clearly fits that label, due to the factors we've been discussing.

Re: Okami

I love my Wii version of Okami. I find that the brush can be a pain sometimes, though.

I also find that my Wii likes freezing up when I'm in the middle of a battle and haven't saved in a while. D:< It's happened 3 times.
