Whats the better Nintendo series?

Mario or Zelda? I like both. They both have great games. Mario has games like SMB, SMB2, SMB3, SMW, SMRPG, SM64, SMS, SM64 DS, NSMB, and SMG and the Mario Kart series and the Paper Mario series. Zelda has good games too, the only games that were bad were the CD-i ones. Mario though, uses spinoffs to often, leaving gaps between the platformering games. I like both series however, and can't decide.

Re: Whats the better Nintendo series?

I like both, but I keep track of Zelda better.

I've played all of the real Zelda games. I haven't played CDi, but those aren't approved by Nintendo.

I've played SMB 1-3, 64, Dr. Mario (otherwise known as Mario based Tetris), and Sunshine. I also played a little of other games, but not a whole lot.

Better series? Well, Mario has a lot more games. Party games and sports games. Zelda has a spinoff game based on Tingle, and the FS saga might qualify as a spinoff series. Not sure.

If I had to pick one, I'd say Zelda.

Re: Whats the better Nintendo series?

I don't even care for the Mario games after Super Mario World for SNES, excluding New Super Mario Bros. I'm in the minority when it comes to Mario 64 (I don't really care for it), and non of the new ones interest me much. I've liked every Zelda though.

Re: Whats the better Nintendo series?

Zelda in my eyes is the better series, I love the venturing and the beauty of the outside world. Mario is still a good series and it will have a place in my gamers heart for all eternity, but Zelda FTW!

Re: Whats the better Nintendo series?

They are both good games but Zelda is better. You need to think while playing Zelda not just jumping onto randome enemies. Plus exploring the world is more fun in my opinion than just trying to reacha flagpole somewhere.

Mario is excellent, but Zelda is so much more in-depth and intriguing. I love them both, but it's hands-down Zelda for me.

Re: Whats the better Nintendo series?

Though I generally like Mario and Zelda equally, I'm gonna vote Mario because I've been really obsessed with this series lately and have dragged away from Zelda, at least until the Wii Zelda comes out and that won't be for a good while. Oh, there's also the fact that my favorite Nintendo character comes from the Mario series (Luigi, lol), but I don't consider it a real reason, only a fact I think is worth mentioning.

I've been playing a lot of Mario lately, and the only Zelda I've played at all recently would be TMC, my eighth time completing it. So yeah, I've moved away from Zelda for awhile. So much Mario I wanna play. XD

I love both series greatly, however. :]

Re: Whats the better Nintendo series?

Seeing as I'm much more in to "pick up and play" games recently, I've played a whole lot more Mario than I have Zelda. All of the main series have been strong games, and incredibly playable. Plus SMW is pretty much my favorite game, so I'll go with Mario.

Re: Whats the better Nintendo series?

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that two of my favorite games of all time are Mario. They'd be SMG and Luigi's Mansion. That also contributes to my choice. However, like I said, I generally like both series equally.

Re: Whats the better Nintendo series?

I love both, but I prefer Zelda. I like the more epic dark ages kind of feel. Mario just feels more goofy and cartoony. My favorite game is MM, the more serious dark Zelda, as it hit everything I look for in a game.

Re: Whats the better Nintendo series?

This is a Zelda site so of course the Zelda one is going to be more popular. Honestly, I'm in the middle. Mario was the game that started the gaming industry to boom, more so than anything else. Zelda when it first came out wasn't as popular, but it sure has grown with much potential. Like Mario, Zelda games are repetitive with the same basic plot, characters, etc. They are both so alike and have evolved into incredible games.

It's hard to decide, so I chose both.

Re: Whats the better Nintendo series?

Of the later generations, honestly, I'll pick Mario. I did love TP, but I also adore Paper Mario 2 and Mario Galaxy which I'd pick any day over The Minish Cap or Phantom Hourglass. I did enjoy the Windwaker, but again, I'd pick the later Mario games over it.

If we go back to '64 and earlier, OoT/MM/aLttP/LA/AoL/LoZ all sit pretty high up with me (the Oracle series, I didn't enoy, and I probably would put most Mario games over it anyway), but so does Super Mario World, Mario RPG, Mario Kart (SNES and 64), Mario 64, Paper Mario and others I can't remember right now. So, in terms of older gaming, I'd have a hard time picking.

I guess in the end I enjoy the fact that both can muster that nostagic feeling and incorporate new ideas. While I do enjoy epic storylines and puzzles, I also adore the fun factor of Mario games. Plus, I'm a 16 - 32 bit gamer at heart and with that generation of games, I'd find it impossible to pick. The only thing I seem certain of is the newer games. Meh.
