Xbox 360 or PS3

I have a Wii but if I am able to get a PS3 or 360, which one should I get. I know there are more forums like this, but this is MY thread.

360 hands-down.

No, I won't engage in a giant flamewar with you about the fact that it has a cooling problem. I just think it's an overall better console with a better library of games.

PS3!

The only downside I've found to the PS3 is that the games specifically meant for the PS3 (most of my games are PS2 games) are pretty violent. Finding interesting games that aren't rated MATURE for graphic violence is rather difficult.

But, I don't have a 360 so I can't give you a more objective opinion.

I would chose PS3. I'm not really a fan of Xbox games so that might be the reason. I do, however, love the Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts series and their next installments are Playstation exclusives.

If you don't already have a decent gaming PC, enjoy shooters, and don't mind paying a fee for high quality online play, I recommend you get a 360. It has a larger library of decent games than the PS3, and has a more comfortable controller in my opinion. The system hardware is of poor quality though, so if you don't like the idea of having to ship off your console for repairs (it's free) then you might want to avoid the 360 or just wait for a newer SKU that is more reliable.

Of course, if you specifically want to play games like Final Fantasy or Metal Gear Solid the PS3 would be the obvious choice. The online is free, and constantly improving, and the PS3 is a multimedia beast. While the PS3 does have less overall "good" games than the 360 it is at least keeping pace with the 360 in terms of new games so far this year. In fact, most of the non PC games I'm looking forward in the near future are either multiplatform or PS3 exclusives, but that may or may not continue.

In the end it should all come down to what you want the system for. Both are good systems with their own unique advantages and flaws. They are also very similar in a lot of ways. Graphics are virtually identical, they get a lot of the same games, and both are fun. I'd lean towards saying you should get a 360 simply due to game library size, but I don't even know what kind of games you like so I could be wrong.

If you have a decent PC for gaming, then get a PS3. Gears of War, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Viva Pinata, Halo 3, all have or will eventually have PC releases,

If you don't, well, its a toss-up. You might need to give us more feedback about the types of games you like or such.

Well, I like some RPGs, and I think Shooters are awesome. I enjoy fighing games and platformers, but I would pick them last.

360 right now, but the PS3 will be up there in about a year. PS3's future releases alone could very well put it on par with 360's current library, strangely enough.

The PS3 is great, but if you have to choose between them go with the 360.

Before offering a properly formulated answer - will you be using either console online? Out of the two what console do most of your friends have?

Before that comes to light, get a PS3. Adhamh says so.

Uh, now that you think about it, almost all of my friends have a 360 except one. I think he might get one too...

PS3doesnt have many games out for it so thats why I choose xbox360

I recommend the PS3 for Metal Gear Solid 4, the game will indeed be amazing.

And to hold you over you should purchase: Ratchet and Clank: Future Tools of Destruction, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Resistance Fall of Man, Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, MotorStorm, etc.

They are all great games. And something to look forward too on the PS3 is: LittleBigPlanet, Resistance 2, Soccom Navy Seals: Confrontion, and Tekken 6.

Most of what is found on the 360 can be played on a PC.

I'd go with the 360. Much stronger game library in general, and Xbox Live is pretty kew.

Oh, absolutely. With the release of Metal Gear Solid 4 next month and -sooner or later- Final Fantasy XIII's release confirmed, you simply won't be able to go wrong with the PS3. Although, if you are indeed meant to make a choice at the moment, go with the 360.

The 360's gaming library is amazingly extended, as a matter of fact. There's definitely some noteworthy RPGs for the 360 currently, for instance: Eternal Sonata, Oblivion IV: Elder Scrolls and what-not. Nevertheless, how couldn't I include the fabulous Call of Duty 4, Halo 3 and BioShock. (Bioshock's relatively tedious, and with a playthrough of approximately 20 hours, the game won't satisfy you very long, though.)

Then there's your selling point.

Get it, get online with it and start playing some Halo 3, Gears of War and Crackdown with your mates.
