I know you think it is, but your opinion isn't fact.

Personally, I prefer GTA IV over any of the other games in the series. I didn't really like the setting of San Andreas, and GTA IV has superior driving and shooting.

I don't know how one couldn't. It's California and Nevada. Liberty City has been the setting for three of the games, as well as featured in San Andreas as well. The shooting is better and the cover system is good, but the driving isn't. Driving a motorbike is almost impossible, where I could drive cross-country in the previous game (and across an entire city in the others with the exception of GTA III, which had no motorbike). Why the hell can't I use the shoulder buttons to look left, right, and behind my car? Why the hell does the handbrake, which allowed me to make full-speed turns in the previous game, make my car peel out? Where's the in-car camera? I'm a big fan of realism, but not when that realism takes away from the experience of the game when it comes to horrible car physics.

I've played every single GTA game released and I can say I find 4 to be the best. SA was good but far, so very far from being the best. In GTA 3 and SA I got bored pretty quick doing the story and would just end up using a cheat to drop the tank or jet and mess around with that for bout half an hour then get bored and turn the game off. With 4 I've been greatly enjoying the single player and havent gotten bored at all with it.

One quick question before I submit a real response: did you finish the story on any of these other games?

Re: Grand Theft Auto IV - not top anymore?

GTA4 is incredibly amazing from a technical and theatrical standpoint, especially when you consider the amount of stuff they managed to cram into the game and the astronomically high production values. The game is written and acted out better than Hollywood movies, the soundtrack is amazing, etc. The characters are incredibly memorable, as well. The game is just amazing when it comes to presentation. Liberty City is incredibly alive and life-like, and the way you immerse yourself in it is amazing.

On the fun side though, the gameplay side.... it's just another GTA game, no more, no less.

Re: Grand Theft Auto IV - not top anymore?

In my opinion, GTA IV is better than San Andreas in many ways. Car handling, shooting and breaking into cars and hotwiring them are improvements in this game. The only thing that lets down GTA IV is the fact there are no planes to fly, but that is not a huge let down as Helicopters are included in game.

The soundtrack is good and many of the game characters are memorable in more ways than before. When could you hang out with a mission character and go bowling with them in previous games. As far as i can tell, you could not. And could you literately drive into places like Burger Shot, Bowling Alley and even your safe house. No.

Re: Grand Theft Auto IV - not top anymore?

Personally, I thought OoT was a little boring at times. How it managed to stay on top for so long is beyond me. If they were doing this fairly, they would have to judge OoT by today's standards. If they did that, then it would immediately loose it's spot. You can't cut it a break just because of it's age. You can call it the best game of it's time, but today it doesn't even make into the top 100.

The only one I never beat was Vice City. Don't ask me why I didn't finish cause I couldn't tell you honestly, I just stop playing it and have never gotten around to finishing it.

Re: Grand Theft Auto IV - not top anymore?

I would like OoT to stay up there around best 10 personally, but I don't really care. I finally played GTA4 at a friends. It was awesome, the story, the flying out of cars, characters, but I still don't feel it beats OoT at its time. Ocarina was just evolutionary then. Its hard to beat a game that just changed the series like that, thats the advantage it had. I don't feel GTA4 did anything like that, but what else could they have done to make is just as evolutionary as stepping into the whole new 3-D world as OoT?

If Ocarina losses its place, so be it. Its old and Twilight Princess is almost a totally revised version of it, doing everything Ocarina couldn't do back then.

I thought the soundtrack was a major step back from both San Andreas and Vice City. By the end of the game, I just did exactly what I did with GTA III and set the radio to the trance station for the rest of the game. I didn't find any of the characters all that memorable, especially compared to the previous entry in the series.

The things is that San Andreas wasn't just another GTA game. It went above and beyond what was generally accepted as GTA gameplay, and that's what made it amazing.

Car handling isn't great. Cars handle extremely clunky and are so prone to flipping that there's almost no reason to ever drive fast in the game. The shooting is obviously better, and the breaking-and-hotwiring animation is merely presentation. One of the best parts of San Andreas was the abundance of aircraft-related missions, and those are notably absent in Grand Theft Auto 4.

It was better then GTA III's, but a huge step down from both Vice City and San Andreas' soundtrack. You could hang out with characters all the time in San Andreas, and while there wasn't a bowling minigame to go to (which isn't saying much, it's not that great), there was a plethora of restaurants, bars, and pool halls to go to. You couldn't drive your car into a restaurant in San Andreas, but that's due to it being a last-gen game that was pushing the limits of the Playstation 2.

It's because the game is great. You can't suddenly compare games that are technically antiquated against games that utilize state-of-the-art technology in reviews. As games age, the gameplay becomes the most important aspect of the game. How does it not make it into the top 100? If so, that means no game from before this generation can make it into the top 100.

I'm sorry that I say what I believe and believe what I say. I didn't know it was a crime to be confident in one's ideas. Besides, I never said anything about not liking GTA4.

If you got around to the latter thirds of San Andreas, you would know exactly why it's superior to this game.

That's why GTA III was revolutionary, as it brought Grand Theft Auto in 3D and changed the face of gaming forever.

Yet Twilight Princess is an inferior game.

Re: Grand Theft Auto IV - not top anymore?

I like OoT and GTA IV and I find that GTA IV's ability to rank higher than OoT is impressive. Taking down a king is pretty hard. It doesn't mean that either of them suck if one is higher than the other.
