So What Was Cut Out of Brawl?

What exactly did they take out of Brawl? I've heard that Geno was supposed to be in it, but Square would want too much money for him or something. I also know they took out the song "Beware the Forest's Mushrooms" from Super Mario RPG. Feel free to discuss what was taken out of Brawl.

Mewtwo. If you look at some of the files within the game, some of Lucario's sound files actually still have Mewtwo's name in them.

I've also heard there was data for what was possibly Plusle and Minun the Pokemon in Brawl. Another thing was that there were supposed to be a Toon Zelda and Toon Sheik.

That's a shame, it really is a good song. The boss theme for Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time was also supposed to be in it. I've heard that Dixie Kong was also supposed to be a playable character.

Dixie Kong, Mewtwo, Plusle & Minun (as one character), Roy, Dr Mario, Toon Zelda, Toon Sheik were all removed from the game. Small amounts of data for all of them can still be found.

No. Not really. Mewtwo and Roy were the furthest in development, the others seem to have been scrapped quite early. Mewtwo appears to have been almost finished, he graphics (which are corrupted, though...), a victory theme, sound effects, etc. Most of his stuff got booted into the Lucario file. Makes me wonder why they dropped Mewtwo. IMO, he is the coolest Pokemon.

Young Link was cut out too. Toon Link replaced him. Mario Tornado was taken off of Mario's moveset, which was a horrible thing to do, if you ask me. Sure, it made Luigi less similar (because he retained Luigi Cyclone), but FLUDD sucks ass. The least Nintendo could have done was given Mario a more decent move. FLUDD does hardly anything at all.

And Dixie was supposed to be playable in Brawl? I would have liked having her. I like Dixie, though Diddy is pretty cool too.

Looking at unfinished code for the game, you can see that data for all the characters from Melee that didn't make it into Brawl are there with the exception of Pichu. Plusl and Minun were going to be in as an Ice Climbers-esque duo character, as well as Toon Zelda/Sheik and Dixie or Tiny Kong (can't remember which). I'm thinking that a lot of the code for the old characters was just used for reference and not much else, but it makes wonder if they were going to be in at first. Also makes me wonder what Mewtwo's Final Smash would have been. Also, it looks like they changed Wario's Final Smash- remember, in the original trailer, he did this *ahem* gas attack that resulted in a mushroom cloud.

As for Geno, I'm pretty sure that was just a rumor someone started, like Pac Man, Toad, and Mega Man.

Mewtwo definitely was the strongest...for a time, that is. (IMO, he should have STAYED the strongest, Arceus is ****ing stupid.)
I guess that's why they took him out though, he was supposed to be the "ultimate pokemon".

Mewtwo was the strongest Pokemon for a time, true. But they totally screwed him in Melee. That's probably why he got cut out from Brawl. Nintendo was afraid he would suck again. Smart move, Ninty. :]

Also, imo, Lucario is a cooler Pokemon. Aura ftw.

In the Bridge of Eldin Level. To this day that song is the best version ever, such a great combination of Horns, Drums, and Violins

Does anyone else know if Geno was just a rumor? Also, in a current Nintendo Power when Sakurai was asked about which characters did not make it he would not answer, leading me to think it's someone they wanted, but couldn't get.
