Whoohoo! First post!

Crystal Chronicals: My Life as a King has been released in Japan, but there's no news of a worldwide release.

FFIVDS was released in japan a while ago, and is due for a worldwide release anytime soon.

But I'm waiting for an announcement for Final Fantasy VI DS.

That would be a dream come true...

This thread is now about Gilgamesh.

Best recurring character ever. Discuss.

Gilgamesh?

Yeah, he was cool. He had a wide variety of "fake" weapons. Excalipool, Fake version's of Cloud's and Tidus' swords, etc.

And he was (On VI and XII) a fairly challenging boss. Good times.

I thought it was Excalipoor? Anyways, which of the games has he actually been in? I remember him in VIII, but he's meant to be in IX and IV as well, and I don't remember him there.

Cid can take that title easily, you pathetic 'Gilgamesh' can go cry in a corner

Crystal chronicles for wii looks kick ass! I can't wait for that

But what really bugs me at the moment is the fact 'Dissidia' still has no release date for Europe

I don't think I'll be playing that one. Zidane versus Kuja? Not for me!

Yeah, it is Excalipoor. And he's been in V, VIII, XI, XII, Revenant Wings and at least one of the Tactics games, plus the GBA remakes of I and VI. And that's just the ones I know of.

Cid doesn't count because he's not a recurring character. He's a recurring name. Gilgamesh is always the same character.

My favorite is FFVII. I've played every one from V to X, Crystal Chronicles and now I'm waiting for WiiWare to be released in Europe(six more days), so that I can get My Life as a King.

Also, like Lavvy, I am so excited about Crystal Bearers. I have very high hopes for the online play.

Well, it is a town-building game. But everything else is alright? Gameplay? Longetivity?

It's no joke! Zidane and Kuja made their peace; there should be no more fighting.

Maybe I got a little too emotionally involved.

Then don't make them fight each other

I think Dissidia looks pretty cool. Any game that lets you make Sephiroth fight the Emperor from FF2 gets tons of cool points. It might almost be worth getting a PSP for Dissidia and Crisis Core.

I liked the first Crystal Chronicles, so I've been looking forward to a second one for a long time now. Is there any word on a console sequel? My Life as a King looks kind of...meh.

At the risk of seeming really behind on the news here, what the heck is Dissidia?

Gilgamesh really threw me when he turned up in FFVIII - Odin got split in two, and then some four-armed guy I'd never heard of replaced him! And turned up randomly in the middle of fights. And did loads of damage when he wasn't using Excalipoor. And even worked against bosses.

...why was I missing Odin again?

That's official? o.o I thought it was just a fan-rumour.

It's a Final Fantasy fighting game coming out for the PSP. Youtube it, there are a couple pretty cool trailers for it (including some gameplay footage).

There are only two games I've really liked Gilgamesh in; V, because he was the only good character in the whole damn thing, and XII, since you got to see him with the fake weapons of past FF characters. That, and he was a crazy hard mark to hunt. All his other appearances (I, VIII, etc.) have just been really annoying.

The "Cid coming back as a different person in pretty much every Final Fantasy game" or "Gilgamesh is the same character every time he makes an appearance?"

Cid, Biggs, and Wedge > Gilgamesh.

I'm loving the huge variety of Final Fantasy that we're all swimming in.

Cid = fantastic awesomeness. Except for in FF IV (where just about every single character died). COME ON.

I hearted him in FF XII. He was evil, older version of Balthier =O

I agree that Cid was lame in IV. Then again, most things were lame about it, from graphics to characters (although in the re-releases the script is much better). However, the driving point of FFIV's failure was that they were too afraid to kill a character. The old guy (forgot his name- the Sage) was one of maybe two good guys that died in th whole thing. I guess Square decided it would be too much to see more than one good guy die, so they had several occaisions where it looks like someone was about to go, but they came back later. Including Cid. All this being said, Cecil and Kain are close to my favorite FF characters overall. Dragoon and Dark Knight turned Paladin? Cool.
