Free MMO's

I've got some spare time now that I don't have college anymore. So are there an good free MMO's? Don't say Runescape, I've tried that, it was terrible.

Does anyone play those free mmos that are out there?

depends. Do you want ones which will last a liftime but take about 10 hours to download, or a few simple to play ones?

Either is good. I have a pretty good internet connection, so downloads don't bother me.

I havent found that many good ones. I use to play one that was decent but it was years ago and I cant remember the name.

You can join a free server on WoW so you don't have to pay monthly to play the game. I know it's possible, but I don't really know how to go about it... or if it's legal.

Maple Story - Nice Game, but I find quite boring after a while

Knight Online - Meh, free version okay but bronze and over is VERY good

Trickster - Lots of fun, but quests start repeating after a while...

Maple's quite fun at first then gets way tedious to play.
Trickster I found got boring before I even hit level 10.
Try SotnW though, I found it quite a fun game when I gave it a go.

Some MMOs I've found fun in the past are Maple Story, Gunbound, Gunz Online, Flyff (I think it's called Fly For Fun or something like that), and I've played Knight's Online a looong time ago but it isn't the best. I also used to play one called Rakion when it was in beta, but I have no idea if it's still around.

hmmm... people are saying ones that probably wont last you long. Lineage 2 is what you want. It is like another version of WoW, but 100s of free servers on sites like l2Hopzone.

personaly I suggest getting one in the Kamael client(its the newest, and has a new race). But it is confusing at first with all the items graded and stuff. Go here and read most of the stuff to understand the game. But this isnt for Kamael so you might be better off with a server on an older version.

Once you played a good pay as you go MMO such as World Of Warcraft there is no such thing as a good free MMO. But before I played World Of Warcraft I found Maple Story to be the best but you will get sick of it after a few months due to its slow leveling and all you do is kill stuff. I also played the most pointless MMO ever second life for a month or so. Give those a shot but again your not going to find something as great as what you pay for.

Try a Ragnarok Online private server.

I would suggest a WoW private server, but every single WoW private server has a million bugs, to the point where it's not fun to play. Ragnarok private servers tend to be pretty stable.

Alternatively, you could pay $15 a month and get the official version of WoW, which is more or less the best MMO out there at the moment.

Lineage II is another good one that has decent free servers.

Like a bunch of people have already said, MapleStory. I played that for aaaages, but I don't really know why. It's pretty much just killkillkillkillkillkillkillkill and if you're lucky you might level.

More recently I've been playing Mabinogi, which still confuses the hell out of me, but it's pretty fun. Lots of dungeons.

FlyFF is another, I had a lot of fun playing that with my friends.

It's probably easier for you to look at the sites and decide which one/s you want to play.

Eh...pretty much all free MMOs are horrible. And by that I mean those MMOs that you play via browsers and/or download for free. Go with WoW or Guild Wars, even though I'm really not into either.

I've played quite a few MMOs; Runescape, FlyFF, Ragnarok, World of Warcraft, Luminary, Trickster, Dark and Light, Maple Story, Nexus Kingdom of the Winds, Entropia Universe, etc... and time after time I find that every MMO, free or pay, is terrible.

Eh, as Luke said Free MMO's typically suck major. I'd say Age of Conan or WoW are good choices assuming you are willing to pay, I tried both a friend's house. They're both pretty nice but I wouldn't pay $15 a month to play em.

I play Phantasy Star Online Blue Burst sometimes. It used to be pay to play, but Sega took down all their servers and abandoned the game. The only way to play it is via a free private server.

Hang around my forums for a while, and you'll see more ads for all the free MMO's out there then you'll see anywhere else in a lifetime.

It's supposed to be pretty good, I have minimal experience with it but some MMO junkies I know are constantly telling me to play it. I've also heard of a game called Silk road which is also supposed to be pretty good, though I'm not entirely sure if it's free.

Silk Road is free, but it is lagtastic and pretty terrible.

Uh, I used to play a ton of MMORPG's, usually playing in the beta stages, so scourge the internet for upcoming MMO's and subscribe to play beta for it. I played beta for Sword of the New World, and I enjoyed that quite well, so you might find something you like.
