Why is it always Nintendo?

You know guys, I've been reading gaming maggs for a while. And whenever there was a gag or parody or stupid comment, it's most often Nintendo or some company Nintendo has worked with. My last straw was IGN's Zelda Movie Prank, I mean that's as stupid as yelling "shark" at the beach right? I've seen a tone of parodies on youtube too, all related to Nintendo games. Some weren't even worth watching. If IGN wants to wast their time and mony on something that stupid, then they can be my guest. But stop picking on Nintendo for once. Sure some of you guys didn't care about it but I was seriously hurt. Come on, I mean a Zelda movie would rock if they did it right. What about you guys?

Nintendo sucks, they have fallen from the paradise they apparently once were in. Konami, Namco and Capcom all make better games, hell, even Nintendo's Retro Studios makes better games than the "old" inhouse developers. Zelda is not perfect, there are more than enough series that are better overall. OoT and TP are not perfect, hell, they even aren't the best within their own series.

Did that hurt your feelings enough? If not, please read this post again.

What makes Nintendo any more special than Sony, Sega, or Namco? Just because you love Nintendo doesn't mean it shouldn't get parodied. Besides, some of those parodies are funny.

And come on, a Zelda movie would suck. Remember what happened to Super Mario Bros?

IGN does one of these jokes every year. If they do something like this on or around April Fools Day, it is most likely a joke.

Well, I won't make the mistake of posting that particular phrase again, but my, and ALL our initial comments stand I reckon.

You sound like a fanboy complaining that his favourite corporation is being slanted. Nintendo are just a corporation, they exist purely to provide us with entertainment so that we spend copious amounts of money in their general direction, and often, they may actually be worth spending our hard earned cash on. But not only do corporations make mistakes, they often just plain try to rip us off. Nintendo has done that a few times I reckon, due to all the different Mario games out that aren't Mario Kart or an actual platformer. Mario Party, Mario Golf, Mario Tennis... Good games, mayhaps, but if that's not milking the franchise for all it's worth, I don't know what is. YOU have no personal stake in Nintendo's success, so you shouldn't be defending them so stalwartly. Being a fanboy for a franchise is perfectly fine (I'm sure most everyone on this board is to some degree a Zelda fanboy), because that's a franchise with an entire universe behind it. It's appreciation of a good story, or an enjoyable game. Fanboying over a corporation is simply being an unpaid salesman.

Any magazine that makes a comment that's anti-nintendo is either because Nintendo have done something worthy of this criticism, or it's a magazine that's practically paid to promote another console. Playstation magazines will slant Xbox and Nintendo, naturally, to make Sony's console look better. Xbox magazines will pick on Sony and Nintendo to make Microsoft's product look appealing. Nintendo magazines, the ones I used to read the most of, tend to actually be even WORSE towards the opposition than any of the former two. In fact, not once have I read in a Playstation magazine anything relating to Nintendo other than facts that are necessary to explain whatever the subject is - such as features about the history of Metal Gear Solid mentioning The Twin Snakes on the Gamecube, and if it did make an opinionated comment, it was probably praise for being a half-decent remake.

The Zelda movie trailer was just an April Fools gag, I very much doubt it was anything more. Otherwise, it's an awfully expensive way to insult someone.

There is a good reason for all the parodies. Nintendo has lovable franchises. Say what you want about this or that game, but I think almost everyone can agree that Nintendo has made some damn good series throughout the years, Mario and Zelda being one of the most famous.

The point is, people make parodies, mostly because they actually like the series. I mean, many of them make fun of the games, true. But it's usually not like "hey, I'm Mario and I suck balls". No, it's mostly parodies that are putting the games in other aspects. Like Mario jumping on a stone and starts bleeding because you can't do that in real life.

If anything, I love it that they make parodies. Sure, some are made by stupid 10 year-olds who know nothing about comedy or film making, but many of them are actually fun to watch. And not because you want to pick at the games, but beacuse you like them.

I don't think Nintendo is bad as a company other than the fact that they want to make all the games for theirself on their systems. Most of the time if a game comes from Nintendo it's gonna be a good game so I have no problem with their games at all aside from the recent barrage of party games and the occasional **** game (Twilight Princess, Super Mario Sunshine).

Although I don't see how it's always Nintendo is "always the one being picked on" as the topic creator claims. O_o And if that is the case then that would mostly because, you know, Nintendo houses some of the most popular series ever.

Nintendo is an easy target. They have easily recognizable characters, and it is easy to joke about them.

X-box has halo, and Sony has things like KH, and R&C, and whatever else, but they haven't been around as long, as say Mario, or Link.

Also Nintendo fanboys, are possibly the worst fanboys ever. So much more satisfaction comes form insulting them, rather than sony, or microsoft.

There might be more of them though, that sounds reasonable to me.

All in all, you're right about the targeting. The only other parody that matches Mario and Zelda would be Sonic, I guess... and many of those parodies are just making fun of how the newer sonic games suck

Are you serious? If it's not you blathering on about how Christian you are and trying to get some kind of internet security to block porn (anyone who's visited the I:SB recently knows what I mean), it's you acting like the worst kind of fanboy. Seriously, if they want to make parodies let them. It's just a joke. I could show Mr. Miyamoto a Link parody, and he'd either laugh or forget about it within a few hours. He wouldn't start to complain to everyone at Nintendo about IGN or the Movie Parody. People like to laugh at Nintendo, and the people of Nintendo are mature enough to laugh with them. You've got to learn that the world isn't going to change just to make you happy.

Not complaining EXACTLY, just letting people know how I feal bout this kind of stuff. It's called being honest, give me a break man. Is there nothing wrong with venting my fealings & asking others what they think about the subject? That IS what this section of the forums is for right? I certainly hope so, otherwise both of us would be wasting our time here. & who said I wanted the whole world to change, I'm just asking for a bit of respect ya know? So I'm a fanboy, big deal. You don't see me stalking Nintendo CEO's cause I find something to be "wrong" or "offencive" do you?:_;; Then stop saying things that don't even relate to the topic!

Cause I'm a huge fan, but other than having nearly all the Mario, metroid & zelda games out. (not counting DS, I don't have 1) I'm not what you'd call "obsesed" more like passionate. A common "fanboy" trait is taking an insult to the object of their fanboyism personally. And plenty of people point out the faults of all three of the consoles, you don't even have to look very hard for that. This sounds like you basically read one comment in one magazine, watched that mock trailer, got ridiculously annoyed, and decided to post a small rant on the internet about it.

What I'm being honest here, seriously what do you want me to do?

First off yeah, you are complaining. Secondly, venting your feelings? Really? You actually have personal feelings for a Game Company!? Who cares if people like to make fun of Nintendo? So freaking what!?! It's not like the jokes are hurting their sales, right? They make hundreds of millions of dollars a year! They've sold so many Wii's that they're having to haul ass just to keep up the supply! On a worldwide basis the Wii has beaten both Sony and Microsoft in total sales! And you want to know something? They don't care about the jokes. It doesn't matter how many kids make parodies about Link, because most of them have bough TP and a Wii! Thirdly, no, this forum isn't for "venting feelings" either, the General Gaming section is about discussing games. Finnaly, no one is going to respect you if you act like you are now. Yes the other game companies have their faults too, and people acknowledge that. What you don't seem to understand is that these jokes are just... jokes! They're harmless, and getting as upset as you are about them is stupid.
