Here's a thread about games where you create your character. This is really common in western RPG's.

The question is, when you're given the option, how do YOU create your character? Do you make him look as ridiculous as possible, do you go for a default, or do you model it after someone or yourself? Personally, I just try to make my characters look cool. I sometimes have a set "outline" I want to use, such as my character from Mass Effect. Other times, I model my character after someone I know. In Oblivion, my character looks exactly like my math teacher.

I try to make them look as idiotic as possible. So I voted for the second option.

Just kidding.

Seriously, "weird" is the only word fit to describe the characters I make, no matter what the game. They're never normal, that's for sure.

I always model a random character, not particularly based off of anyone. Sometimes I try make my characters look like other video game characters but it never works.

I don't do any of those. Sure, I do give some of my characters a couple characteristics of mine, but I don't model them completely after me. Take my main Zelda character, Kelli, for example. Yes, her name is my name spelled differently, but I thought the name suited her. Her personality is completely different, though. Well, okay, like me, she isn't short tempered. BUT. Unlike me, she's outgoing, very social, but at the same time, afraid to tell people certain things, and she's bossy at times.

I create my characters with originality for the most part, be it in a game or story. I try to be as original as possible.

It depends what game I'm playing. In an RPG, I tend to modle him after myself. In other games (like Tony Hawk for instance) I make it look as wierd as possible. My character in Underground 2 has a sombrerro, a tuxedo, jeans, cowboy boots, and to top it all off, a clock neclace. Not to mention he is a skelaton.
