Earthbound (Probably) Coming to VC

It's been rated by the ESRB for the Wii, anyway.

The VC just got a bit more appealing to me. That, and Nintendo deserve some credit for finally doing something with it, after pretending it didn't exist for years.

Does anyone know if this has the smallest possibility of coming to Europe? (Assuming it does come, obviously)

Maybe they'll dub Mother and Mother 3. Nahhh. But that'd rock.

You can't dub either of those games.

But it could be ported to the DS for the Western release.

A step in the right direction, but I want the awesomeness of Mother 1 & 3 NOW. Those lovable freaks at starmen.net had to have fan-translated 3 by now, right?

Oh man, I wish. They've been going at it for about a year or so now and it still isn't done.

Earthbound is the american title.

The game is basically a mordern day RPG, taking place in the 1990s. It has some pretty weird enemys, including hippies and cops. Ness fights with things like baseball bats and can use PSI abilites. To heal, you eat things like hamburgers. To save, you find a telephone and call your dad (who also gives you money to buy stuff). Yeah, its quite different from other RPGs.

Keep in mind this is the NA list.

But I see it deemed pretty reliable.

That deserves this new bummed/dissapointed lookin smiley

Has Mother 1 ever been translated? I don't recall many NES games getting the fan-translation job, so I'm reluctant to chase after this goose. . .

Yes Mother 1 has an official translation by NoA themself that was never released to the public. Some carts are found rarely at auctions and whatnot but you can pretty much find it for download on any rom site.

I know man he's so evil. You should've seen the pictures of him getting a big package from Starmen.net (shockingly someone ON Starmen.net works at Itoi's office and snuck in a few pictures in a stalker-type manner) with the EarthBound Anthology (a big book made by Starmen.net full of **** in it, and even was translated into Japanese so he could read it) with a bunch of other stuff in it and he didn't even react one bit in each pic as he opened the package and looked rather annoyed instead of being happy that fans in America love him so much!

Wii-kly Update: Two New Classic Games Added to Wii Shop Channel

Which is more important: brains or brawn? Before you answer, check out this week’s awesome additions to the Wii™ Shop Channel, which give you ample opportunity to flex both. One game features frantic puzzle action with a Pokémon® twist, while the other invites players to brawl and battle in the name of justice. If you’re anxious to test your mental mettle or your action-adventure muscle, these classic titles are just the ticket.

Nintendo adds new games to the Wii Shop Channel at 9 a.m. Pacific time every Monday. Wii™ owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points™ to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This week’s new games are:

Pokémon Puzzle League (Nintendo 64®, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone, 1,000 Wii Points): Get ready for a new kind of Pokémon battle where the power and speed of your brain are just as important as the strength of your Pokémon. Join Ash, Brock, Misty and many more characters from the Pokémon animated series as they gather in Puzzle Village to compete for the title of Pokémon Puzzle Master. Just match three or more blocks of the same color in any direction. Sounds simple, right? But the actual game play is surprisingly addictive and deep (chains and combos anyone?), especially when you’re facing off against a human opponent. Choose from six different modes offering a wide range of action, from story or puzzle modes to continuous play or timed play. If that’s not enough, take on the challenge in 3-D and get ready for more blocks than ever before. Featuring animated cut scenes combined with bright, fun graphics, there’s enough to satisfy any fan of Pokémon or puzzle games.

Renegade™ (NES®, 1-2 players, Rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older – Mild Violence, 500 Wii Points): Renegade follows the story of a vigilante who fights his way through countless gangs in order to bring peace back to his city. Battle your way through subways, parks, alleyways and parking lots. For added fun, there’s a wild motorcycle ride to challenge you. Use your arsenal of kicks, punches (including the infamous sit-on punch) and jump kicks, as well as a variety of throws to knock your opponents into submission. Along the way, pick up items like a hamburger that restores your life, a heart that increases your lives by one, a power-up to increase your attack strength, and a speed item that gives you a speed burst while on your motorcycle. You’ll need all the help you can get to take out your aggression on street punks, thugs, outlaw bikers, killer kung-fu females and an array of bosses standing in your way. Take the law into your own hands to defeat countless scumbags and take your city back like the renegade you are.
Earthbound is a great game, but it really isn't the second coming that most people like to pretend it is. It's a quirky little Japanese game that follows parts of Dragon Quest's formula, with a lot of humor thrown in. It's not laugh out loud like Paper Mario, but it's pretty good.

EarthBound is one of the greatest RPGs for the SNES. I want more people to experience this great game. Instead, they keep on adding games no one wants to play on the VC.

*shrugs*

Earthbound really isn't that good of a game. I'd rather have Super Mario RPG, Chrono Trigger, or Final Fantasy VI. Still, it's nice to know that Nintendo is finally start to show interest in what their fans want.
