Question for FFVI

I have a question for FFVI.

Months and months ago I was playing my FFVI and I got up to the World of Ruin. I soon got to the part where you find Terra, except she doesn't want to come with you. This really annoyed me and at the time I looked through some FFVI reviews on gamefaqs and people commented that "half way through the game this game goes from an awesome storyline to no storyline." And "all you do is look for all your characters (which you can only choose 3 anyway or something like that) and then defeat the final boss.

Also does anyone agree that Kefka isn't really a great character. All he does is poison people, kill people and laugh at you. Btw, he's laughing animation lasts like 15 seconds and it is seriously annoying...

Because that's not awesome.

Kefka is awesome!

Seriously, it's the best Final Fantasy game imo.

Yeah, you have to re-find your characters, but in the process you are learning a lot more about them. It gives the characters some more depth. You find out about their pasts and what makes them the way they are.

You can also gain new characters (gogo and umaro).

There's also the Colosseum to have fun with. You can find and kill the 7 dragons. There are more Espers to gain aswell. Ofcourse new weapons, armour and relics to find.

But you don't have to do all of that, you can beat the game as soon as you get the airship in the world of ruin, but it won't be easy. Since you have to split up into 3 teams for the tower, it's best to have 12 of the 14 possible characters.

Anyways, don't listen to those reviews, 2 or 3 reviews out of what, 20 or so?

The game is way better than any Final Fantasy game Square pulls out of it's ass now.

Kefka is the most bad assed, vilanous villian ever in a videogame.

I agree that the story does drop out a little bit after you reach the world of ruin, there are tons of things to do, lots of sidequests, and interesting things to keep you busy dispite the lack of story. The ending is VERY good though. The game is tied up nicely at the end.

Kefka > everything.

My memory of the game has atrophied; does the party split up before or after the Warring Triad are released on the Floating Continent?

Immediately after.

Kefka's awesome. Just because he doesn't wear black and angst over his mother, doesn't make him a bad villain. He's a great villain because he doesn't need obscure plot-driven motives; he's completely mental and wants to murder everything simply because he can. I agree that the plot does slide down the tubes when you enter the World of Ruin, but it gives way to a level of character development never seen before or since.

There's something you have to do before Terra decides to come back with you; I know you beat the big green dude once, then Terra says she won't come, so I think if you come back after getting someone else she should join up after another big green dude fight.

I actually liked Kefka for the same reasons you didn't. He seems to be a lot more evil than many of the other villains out there. He kills without a second thought, he goads you, and is all-around bastard-tastic. There needs to be more bad guys that are actually bad.

I think after you go to mobliz the first time, you just wait until you get the airship and then I think you should be able to go back and get her... I'm not 100% certain though, it has been a while... too long in fact I think I might play it through again.

^yes, you have to get the airship first.

If you walk the trench and take a ship from the town at the top of the trench.

Once you get the airship everything is open ended. I suggest you visit every place before you go to fight Kafka. You will learn a lot about the characters past and when the game ends you will be crying.

YOu will truly not understand how bad ass kafka is until you get to the end of the game.

I can't believe you don't think Kefka is awesome.

I'd say it's between Sephiroth and Kefka for the title of
"Most Spectacularly Awesome-Tastic Why the Heck Are You Still Reading This You Know I am Just Trying to Make Him Sound so Awesome Geez Do You Have A Life Come on Please Stop Reading This There is Absolutely No Point Are You Obsessed With This Post or Something Evil Villain."

Kefka is awesome. 'nuff said.

To get Terra in World of Ruin, fight the fat green guy, leave the village, then return and talk to Terra again. After defeating the green guy a second time, Terra joins the party.

And VI is, hands down, the best Final Fantasy game. Yes, even better than your beloved VII.

That sounds promising... I'll try playing it again.

I've never played FFVII. FFVI appealed to me because the graphics were actually good to look at... FFVII loses its initial appeal for me because the graphics are so incredibly blocky. But initial appeal doesn't tell us anything...

Anyway, thanks for the help everyone. I was sort of angry when I found out that there isn't much plot after you get to WoR, except finding the characters and going to fight Kefka. Though I was loving leveling my characters up before I went to the big rock in the sky and the battle system too.

Do not be discourage about the lack of plot. For all the back stories you will learn will make up for it.

also on the floating island, did you wait for shadow, because if you did not, he's dead.

i dont remember, i did it months and months ago.

I just got the airship back. And then the guide said a good place to train is at the dinosaurs north of the veldt, so i went there and got koed in like a few hits. Now I have to beat the last boss again... Anyway, is it possible to win against Kefka with 4 characters, or maybe 5 or 6 at level 34?

Not even close to possible. There's a good reason why you get twelve people for Kefka's Tower. It's because you need twelve people. With six characters, you won't even get near him.

Yeah, I fought the first of the Warring Triad, the world ended, then Celes (is that her actual name? I've nicknamed about half and kept the others the same o.O) got killed by an evil dragon and I'm all the way back to the Ultima Weapon. Major annoyingness, though I'm sort of glad because now I can train <:3

Made less possible because of Kefka's opening attack. He basically says, "Screw you," then blows you all to oblivion. You basically have to have auto-life cast on everyone to survive it. He's a crazy one, he is

Fallen One only reduces your health to 1. It doesn't kill you.

I've seen some Youtube links where people beat Kefka with five or so people, so I think you might be able to do it.

I'm aware that it doesn't instantly kill you; it's just that he has so many attacks that deal thousands of damage to multiple party members, and odds are good that he pulls one of those immediately after Fallen One.

I'm pretty sure he could just cast Heal 3 after Fallen One. Besides, Kefka's pretty slow from what I've heard.

Ouch, that's harsh. And yeah, Celes is her real name.

Fallen One isn't necessarily his opening attack. You were just really unlucky. There've been times where he's never used it against me, and times where he's spammed it to hell.

Yay! It didn't take me nearly as long as I thought to get back to the Apocalypse. Wiped the floor with the Ultima Weapon :3

And now I have Sabin, and I'm following Edgar (under an assumed identity that I've forgotten) to the ruins of Castle Figaro. I'm in a cave or sommat.
