Home v1.0 Now On Servers. Coming April 15th?!?!

It appears that Home Version 1.0 is now on Sony's servers, though still not released to people within the closed Beta, who are using v.87. While it appears that the official release of Home on the PS3 is not until July, the version up on the servers right now may as well be the Open Beta, in which all can participate in.

It's being speculated that the Open Beta will be launched on April 15th, upon the unveiling new Playstation Store, which is supposed to have a blow out of new content to coincide with the relaunch, most notably of course being Grand Turismo 5: Prologue, and the Metal Gear Online Beta. The fact that there is already a firmware update scheduled (for) on the same date of the new Store, the release of Home could easily be implemented.

While I myself am not too excited on the idea of Home, I am excited about the possibility of the unified online service, the possibility of in-game XMB, and of course the new firmware-based Store. Even if you aren't looking forward to Home, April 15th is something all PS3 owners should be looking forward to.

dang, that is gonna kick 360 online out of the water! home looks very cool, like a virtual hang out for you and your friends. I heard it has like, voice and video chat via the playstation eye, sounds cool.

As soon as the in-game XMB menu is available I daresay the PSN will be every bit as good as Xbox Live, possibly better. That is a heck of a statement too, because Xbox Live is absolutely fantastic and is worth every penny. To be able to compete with that, all while being free, is amazing. Sony really is impressing me lately.

DTS-MA is finally being added! With this, the PS3 will finally be the best Blu-ray player out there, with every single feature above and beyond what the dedicated players have. (Other players supported DTS-MA previously.)

WarHawk(?) and Lair are also supposed to receive updates with the launch of the new store.

At this point, I wouldn't be expecting the Home Beta to be launching next week. We would have heard something about it by now. If the version number is significant, it might be nearing completion, however.
