Question What's your favourite shoot-'em-up?

Hi I love shoot-'em-ups and was wondering what other peoples favorite shoot-'em-ups are too. If it's from good old classic Gradius to the legendary Radiant Silvergun I'm sure that my chosen selection will get some great results in. Obviously I couldn't get many games on the Poll so if you have any others you want to list please do.

Have Fun!.

Next time, leave the poll out.

Trying to cover an ENTIRE genre in less than ten choices is not very smart.

Oh yeah, I like Galaga. I have it on my calculator.

Next time, make a post that isn't stupid and pointless. =] Thanks. (Yes, I know I'm being hypocritical because I do that kinda thing all the time, I don't care, shut up)

Anyways, I haven't really played many shoot 'em ups, but I do remember the R-Type series being fun. I've also been meaning to pick up Ikaruga for the longest time, since that game looks really good.

Re: What's your favourite shoot-'em-up?

I'm going to have to go with R-Type for being the best shoot 'em up series. R-Type III gave me some intense moments back in the day. Damn I love that game. >D

I also have wanted to play Ikaruga for awhile now, but I never get around to picking it up.

Re: What's your favourite shoot-'em-up?

Sorry for the dumb question, but what would you consider a shoot em up? If Halo's included (probably not) that's my favorite. But I am pretty sure Metal Slug is a shoot em up, so I guess that's my favorite.

I'm sorry, I should be more specific. I would Class Halo as a 1st Person Shooter and what I meant by Shoot-'em-up should have been 2-D scrolling shoot-'em-up or space shooter etc.

Yes Contra/Super Probotector are an absolutely wicked series of games but they're Platform shoot-'em-ups like Gunstar Heroes and Metal Slug etc.

As far as the ones listed there, Galaga. It's such a classic.

Re: What's your favourite shoot-'em-up?

If it's limited to 2D scrolling shooters, I'm changing my vote to Gunstar Heroes.

Which, coincidentally, isn't on the poll. Figures.

Re: What's your favourite shoot-'em-up?

I voted Parodius, because it is one of the few games with a penguin protagonist.

But yeah, gotta love Gunstar Heroes. I also have been enjoying Sin and Punishment. Anything by Treasure is good, actually.

Re: What's your favourite shoot-'em-up?

Ikargua.

It's one of the best, most simplistic, yet deep, games I've ever played. Not to mention that the game is as tough as nails, too. Even beating the game on easy mode is a accomplishment in itself. It's also coming to the XBox Live Arcade as well. So if you own an 360, and haven't played this ingenious game, you owe it to yourself to pick it up. Just make sure you have insurance on your controllers...and your TV...and your dog...

Re: What's your favourite shoot-'em-up?

Well, if I was to vote old skool, I would have to go for Pop 'n Twinbee. I love that series. Had a go on classic Twinbee on the MSX the other day. Now that's old skool. ^_^

Despite my love for those classics, I had to vote for other as my current favourite shooter is not on your extensive list. Nanostray DS. OMG. I love arcade shooters and this one is great. Ok, so it might be a little easy, but it is an arcade perfect game IMO. XD
