Listing: The bane of gamers

I have just had a controler that has developed a anologe stick list. This means that the stick act that it is being pushed in a direction when it is not being touched. I currently can't find a replacement controler.

Does anyone know of a way to fix this problem?

Re: Listing: The bane of gamers

Good question. Just recently one of my GC controllers will only move forward and not backwords. Usually when something like this happens its when I accedentally hold the analog stick forward while everything is loading. But that was an easy fix, just had to restart the game.

But this? I tried it on my Spiderman 2 game and wouldnt work. Although it did make for an interesting 2 minutes of playing.

So if anyone has a solution to this... let us know

It could very well be merely your connection -- in which case this happens to be occasionally. Try unplugging the controller, then blow in both the controller port and the controller plug. If it still has problems, then it's your controller. If it doesn't work anyways, just open it up and play with the control stick a little.

Controllers aren't that expensive to begin with (except that Wiimote >.>). Simply go out of your way to buy another one if it's a real issue.

Wow this is happening to me too. We just bought 2 GC controllers off eBay. I'm going to try to open it up and see what I can do...

If it's on N64, press and hold L, R, and START.

Other than that, you're on your own. It's probably specific to your console. Which type of controller is it?

Tends to happen w/ GC controllers more than any other... This is also why they went wireless.

That's what I do when this problem happens to me.

Just unplugging and blowing into the slot works every time. I also have this problem with the nunchuck sometimes.

Re: Listing: The bane of gamers

happened to my official GC... I 'popped' the joystick to make it loose and pulled it towards myself for a while then clicked it back in and it worked... this was after a long time of it being 'listed'

What he said. Messing with the controller during start-up can cause this, so you need to re-set the controller. Problem is, the process is different for every console (well...except maybe the PS1 and it's more recent clones).
