Valkyrie Profile: The Accused One for DS!

It's about time the DS got another good, original RPG.

Slime, I saw this at 5:00 this morning, and absolutely new that you would [beat me] to getting a thread up by the time I got home from school.

While I really hate/am tired of the DS hardware, DO WANT! And the main girl equals Lenneth's host confirmed.

The real question though is where this fits in the timeline. Silmeria kind of sealed off the series, even more than the original did.

Square Enix has announced in this week's issue of Jump magazine that they are to release Valkyrie Profile: The Accused One for the Nintendo DS.

First details are coming in saying that Tri-Ace are the team that's developing it, which means this might be the "unannounced" title we've seen on their promotional DVD. It is being designed by Kou Yoshinari and You Yoshinari. More info:

· You don't play as a Valkyrie, you don't even play as a female.
· The main character is a young soldier with silver hair who hates the Valkyries from past experience.
· He is determined to fight against the gods using the "feather that leads to victory" given to him by Heru from the underworld.
· Everytime he uses the power of the wing, it turns darker.
· Ansel is close friend of Wilfred.
· Elise is a mysterious girl from the underworld that seeks to help Wilfred.
· The game doesn't look like it's in Profile, it's isometric instead.
· The theme of the game is "Vengence on the Gods".

Is this a competition?

It's always a competition...kind of...sometimes I see news when it just comes out and I think, why bother, Mr.Wonderful or Slime and if it's about Tales games Sir Chuc, will be all over this game. I'm more of a watcher and partacipant when it comes to JRPG threads. Of course as they know (or I would hope the know) that if it's about a JRPG I will put my two cents in there. Actually, now that I think about it, whenever it's a JRPG, there's almost always the same group of people who post in the thread. Right now my involvement is a lot less...involved, because I don't own any of the systems that these games are coming out for.

Ugh, it's so hard to find Silmeria right now it's the only Valkyrie Profile game I can play and no store seems to carry it. I really should get a PSP, soo much is already out for it and there's a lot coming, but I'm so double minded about it >_<

Any word on how this one is going to play? It seems when a game like this comes to the DS, they usually change the style of game play to a different but interesting flavour.

No, I would actually guess that it would play like the rest of the series. But you're right, really. Who knows.

I've seen a few people speculate that it's going to be a strategy RPG because the screens look isometric. I really hope that's not the case, because I love VP's gameplay, and the DS already has way too many of those games.

A Valkyrie Profile game for the DS? I never would've predicted that.

It's probably unwise to say this on a pro Nintendo forum, but I hope the DS doesn't ruin this series. I hope they stick to the basics and simply tweak gameplay rather than reinvent it. The DS doesn't lend itself very well to "standard" games due to its underpowered hardware.

It's definitely traditional Valkyrie Profile battle mechanics, but it appears to progress in the isometric view. Though I have a feeling it might just be the battles that go isometric, sort of like how battles were the only part of Silmeria that were 3D.

That could be the case, but the cutscene from the first scan is isometric too, so the whole game might be. That would kind of make the "profile" portion of the name irrelevant, but whatever. As long as the battle system is similar, I'm happy. Can't wait for this.

So next week, there's going to be a big Tri-Ace blowout in the Weekly Famitsu. Hopefully we'll get a platform for Star Ocean IV and some new information on Valkyrie Profile: The Accused one.

Valkyrie Profile has always been a franchise that I'd love to see more of, so I'm naturally excited for this. Of all the JRPGs coming out for DS this year, I think this could have the potential to the best, given the excellent standard that the series has had so far.

I was gonna buy valkyrie profile for the psone, but I think I will wait for this instead. the game always seemed interesting and It got good reviews, so I will definately check this out. I love the DS, but it has a slight lack in RPG's as of late. valkyrie sounds cool to say too.

You should play through the first two first. The original can be tedious, but it's need for Silmeria, and will be needed for this.

dang! that trailer was amazing, I didn't think the DS could push that kind of visuals. Very nice. I'm definately buying this! or at the very least R4ing it to see how it is.

When the DS plays FMVs and the like, it doesn't really take much effort, because it's basically just playing a pre-made video that doesn't use the DS's "power" to really do anything. It's kind of like watching YouTube videos of 360 games on a computer that is 7 years old (which I did earlier). Can my computer display graphics like that? No. But when the video is compressed and the codecs match up with what your hardware can handle, it's not an issue.

Anyway, I can't wait to see more. Lookin' pretty epic!

Never played those games before... Not much for turned base RPG's either... except for FFIII, FFVII, FFX, FFXII, and FFXIII looks amazing...

but if it turns out to be good on DS and worth the buy... Ill buy it.
