Free Loader for Wii Coming!

Confirmed?: Free Loader for Wii due in about 10 days

Divineo.co.uk has confirmed to us that in around 10 days, Datel are set to release Freeloader for the Nintendo Wii. The product allows you to play import games from all over the globe and a single version works on PAL, USA and JAP consoles.

In ten days, with Free Loader, you'll be able to make your Wii region-free and play games from any territory. Small news, but still notable.

(But honestly there isn't any Wii game that I would do this for as of yet.)

This is what freeloader does, confirmed by codejunkies staff, who actually investigated my questions when I asked about it, TESTED it, and then called me back:

• WII FREELOADER IGNORES ALL REGION-CODING.
• WII FREELOADER IGNORES ALL WII UPDATES ON A WII GAME DISK (INCLUDING SUPER SMASH BROS. BRAWL).
• WII FREELOADER IGNORES THE NECESSITY OF CHECKING FOR GAME UPDATES; THUS ALLOWING THE GAME FILES TO BE PLAYED SAFELY WITHOUT ANY RISK OF BRICKING YOUR WII CONSOLE.
• CODEJUNKIES STAFF HAVE CONFIRMED TO ME, BY PHONE, THAT IF A WII FIRMWARE UPDATE SOMEHOW BLOCKS THE WII FREELOADER, THEY WILL SEND YOU AN UPDATED WII FREELOADER FREE OF CHARGE WHEN ONE IS CREATED, AS LONG AS YOU HAVE PROOF OF PURCHASE OF YOUR ORIGINAL COPY OF WII FREELOADER.

Same here - in the UK, Wii games cost around £35-40 (which is about 70-80 American dollars, I think). So long as Nintendo don't bring out an update that renders it useless, I might buy it when it comes out.

And I'd get to play Brawl early.

Anywho I might get this for mario kart wii and whatnot....and I just realized that you guys don't live in U.S. and that's how you'd play it early. Ignore that comment then.

Is that true? Games here are usually just fifty U.S. dollars.

Umm. Nintendo could break these at anytime with an update. Some of the GC freeloaders stopped working after an old update. So, I'll wait to see how long these things will be around for.

If I were still living in Europe, I'd say this could be of some use to me, but now that I'm back home in the US, it won't be.

Even if the game works, would the online fatures still work? I'm not really sure how the fact that the game connects the system to the internet would work out. I haven't had much experience with Free Loaders so I don't know if online features will work.

So does that mean we can play japanese players?

Meh, mod chipping a Wii is a lot more convenient than popping that disc in and out.

That is if I still owned a Wii.

Maybe, but the worst that could happen is the disc will stop working in a future update, whereas a modchip has the possiblilty of bricking your system.
