*sniffs* My precious game disks!

Ok, so I have a lot of old Playstation games around my room, and a few of them would be like, Final Fantasy VII, Legend of Dragoon, Chrono Cross, and Final Fantasy VIII. Those are the ones that I want to work, but they don't.

They're pretty roughed up, thanks to baby sibilings playing frisbee with them.

You guys have any solutions on how I can fix them? I could get disk cleaners, I know, but some scratches are pretty bad. Should I take them to a disk repair store? Any suggestions? Any at all?

;-;

Depends. If you think there's hope for some of them, you could try cleaning them. If it's too badly scratched to be salvaged, however, I think you should buy a new copy. And a word of advice: keep your game disks out of reach from your siblings from now on.

Do you have any? It's not easy when you have 2 little brothers. They broke my DS. And who got in trouble??? NO ONE! And who has 2 new games for his DS that he's yet to play? Me...

Re: *sniffs* My precious game disks!

okay. This is what you do brokenjoker. firstly, if they are surface scratches (not deep) than they can be saved. So either buy a disc doctor for $20 or so, or you can buy special cleaning solution for about $5 a tube. Both have worked for me in the past. If neither of those methods works, you can always get mod discs. If you are using a ps2 to play your psone games you can mod your ps2 by covering it's sensors (you can find guides on how to do this on the internet, don't ask me how) once this is done, you simply need to buy a swap magic disc. These can cost anywere from $5-$20 depending on were you buy them. Then, you need to find a ROM of those games on the internet. Then, using a DVD burner, burn the ROM onto a blank DVD. Then you boot up your system with the swap magic CD inside (yes, the swap magic is required) once the swap magic CD loads up, it will go to screen that says "insert disc" so you take out the swap magic and replace with the burnt DVD with your game on it. Then play! I have not done this personally, but It works and will get you free psone games if your willing to do the extra work.

(p.s. chrono cross and legend of dragoon are GREAT games!)

remember, you could always just buy more copies of those games on ebay if your to lazy to repair them or use the swap magic trick.

It sounds easier to just buy the games...

Honestly, try the toothpaste one. It worked on me... but look it up.

Re: *sniffs* My precious game disks!

I have an option for you:

Do you have ANY type of internet connection over 128kb? If so... you can simply DOWNLOAD your broken games online. If they are in an ISO file, just burn it to a CD, and play it on your PSX. It's that simple.

He has to have a modchip or something dosent he ?

Anyways yeah... that's what I was thinking. And you also won't feel guilty for downloading and burning since you legally own the game

My dog chewed my GC controller, not nearly as devestating, but I was still pretty mad. You can still play on it, it's just the control stick has huge bite marks on it

It depends: the PS2 has copy protection, the original does not. It depends on which he is playing on.

Re: *sniffs* My precious game disks!

I think you should either buy those games again (but depending on how your family is, you can say that your siblings destroyed those games to get some financial backup) or download them on the internet like Master Jaken said. If you're using the original Playstation.
I've never had little siblings destroying my games, luckily, but my dog chewed on my Pokémon Ruby. I was lucky, though, it still works and the only thing that happened was that the National Dex came up and Skitty appeared more frequently on the route next to Rustboro.

Re: *sniffs* My precious game disks!

The local game shops in my area now have disc repair machines. I think these machines take a layer off of the bottom of the disc, leaving it smooth and even again. It's not exactly cheap, as they claim the machines cost a small fortune, but it beats tracking down and repurchasing the game. I'm sure they charge less for each disc if you have more done at one time. Of course, this is only useful to you if you find somewhere with one of these gizmo's.

Re: *sniffs* My precious game disks!

Theres no way to do it for free.

It's gonna end up costing you either the price of the new games, or 30 dollars for a swap magic disc.
