thanks, but the luigi level is still unsolved...I keep dieing in panic that I won't get enough or I'll make a path of nothing so i cant go back

Hmmm... If I can remember back to how I did it.

avoid touching the green, disappearing panels near the start of the galaxy, because you'll need to go back there to get the star.

But I'll just say this. Don't worry about losing a lot of tiles. What I did was I just made sure I kept all the coins near the beginning then went out into the middle of the body and went in completely random directions. Don't try to think of a strategy. Just look for areas with lots of coins. I know it may seem like a horrible idea, but I assure you the long-jump move will save you. You can long jump over 5-10 tiles at a time. There's bound to be atleast one safe tile among large patches of empty spaces, that you can long-jump across to get back.

Go to youtube and search for the luigi level, I destroyed it but everyone says it's the hardest level so I'm sure there's a guide that visionally shows you how to do it.

for the pixelated luigi level, what I did was I didn't run over the tiles, I jumped tiles so I would have some left when I had to run back to get the star. Try not to run on all the tiles ither wise they'll whether away. Jump over like every other tile so you have a way back to the start.

and there's 3 snowrabbits not 5 (3 with mario, same with luigi?) One's hiding under a snowman gotta fireball it to get him, one's camping in the snow just gotta make a path way and find it, the 3rd one I can't recall it off the top my head

Alright my best advice isn't to make sure you leave tiles so you can come back. I find it more effective to go in a circle so you don't have to worry about that and the most important is to instead of running on the panels just jump on the ones with coins. So tiles don't go away.

The bad thing about Luigi's Purple Coins is that it's very much a "be better at games" kind of stage. That's not to say that the advice given in the thread (preplanning a route, etc.) is invalid, but even with such planning the skill level required is still quite high compared to almost all the other stars.

That's true, and I didn't plan, I don't see how planning would work, well not for me because when I'm in the heat of the moment I'm not aware of my plan. I don't care about my plan..my plan is oblivious to me when I'm in the heat of the moment. I just ran in there with a few strategies and happened to kick this levels' ass. What bothers me is that this game is E for everyone and I had some trouble on this game. If those 8 years olds are beating this level then the gamers of the future will make us look like crap.

Well to be fair, the rating is not based on difficulty, but appropriateness of content. I personally feel that such difficulty is a good thing. Back in the day when Mario 64 just came out, I was about 8 or so (in fact, I remember playing one of the latter courses on my 9th), and I found some parts very difficult - I did not get all 120 Stars for at least a couple of years into my first playthrough. But being the stubborn kid I was, I persevered, and now I can't count the number of times I have played that game 100% through; it's one of my favourite games of all time.

As Luigi, use the green launch star to get to the Trial Planet, then go round to the back of it. There'll be a Luma round there who'll offer to send you to Grand Finale Galaxy. Once you've done it as Luigi, you can do it again as Mario. Just don't expect anything huge.

Apparently, completing a game 100% isn't its own reward anymore. You have to get something out of it, some payment for spending all that time, and that something can't just be cool - it has to be mind-numbingly awesome.
