Only VII was published by Sony though. VIII and IX would be completely possible on a Nintendo system. Though I would honestly see all three of those games remade on a system more powerful than the DS, because they would be more like ports than remakes, if that was the case.

2Gb, not 2GB. But honestly, the improvement up to 2Gb for DS card size is the biggest improvement we've seen for the system. With 256MB of space, what they could be able to do with that is astounding.

Edit: Apparently, Square-Enix is using a 1Gb card for Final Fantasy IV DS, not a 2Gb card. That's the same that they used for III DS. That kind of sucks. But everything about the game is looking good, so it doesn't really matter I guess.

They say that, but just from what I've seen, I don't know if I can really believe that high of a percentage. From hands on impressions, I have heard that the story has been completely rearranged and so on, but that the story is now going to take up 60% more space over the original? I would love for that to be true, but I am a bit skeptical. I hope it is.

But this game has exceeded my expectations already. The fact that it's such a real effort, that they added a VOCAL THEME SONG to the game, it's just all so incredible. I really can't wait to play it.

I beat both. The Cloud of Darkness is insanely harder on the DS than it was on the Famicom. Of course, so was most every other boss in the remake. I still don't have the supers yet though, but I do have all the ribbons. Well, I did until I died again at the end. BAH!

And as for game storyline, that's one thing I never really care about, so that's another reason why 4 did nothing for me. I prefer an amazing character system over anything else.

And I forgot about the Iron Giant... not looking forward to that fight... I need onion knights. My current party is Dark Knight, Black Belt, Devout, and Ninja. I would have used a Sage, but they aren't the amazing powerhouses they were in the first edition.

I don't have a DS, but knowing this game is coming out just gets me all riled up for it. I don't know why, but it just does. The game was awesome on the SNES, so I hope it does even better on the DS.

Re: Final Fantasy IV DS

Heh. Cloud of Darkness. With four level 99 onion knights, all with full onion armor, and equipped with onion swords, she couldn't deal more than 10 damage and died in 2 turns. Well that's what she gets for kicking my ass when I tried her at level 50 with my normal party.

This game's driving me insane. Still 14 days to release and then I have to wait for the NA release......graaagh!

Re: Final Fantasy IV DS

I actually dunno if I will buy this anymore. I've already played it twice, once on gba and once on psone, and I still have to beat ff6,8, and 10 first, so this one may have to wait. it looks very cinimatic though, and it is one of my favorites in the series.

That's how I felt. And then I saw the J-MTV trailer released last week, and went absolutely crazy for the game.

Final Fantasy IV is my favorite 16 Final Fantasy. I can't wait to play it in 3D with voice acting and more story!

Why do they keep having to redesign Cecil's helmet design? They should just stick to the status version as seen in my avatar. It's the coolest!

I swear, he looks almost like Batman now... :glare

Considering the fact that you only wear Cecil's dark armor for the first hour of the game, I don't see the big deal. Batman is cool anyway.

Re: Final Fantasy IV DS

Looks and sounds stunning, as expected. The models are a bit, funky. Sadly, the only Square DS remake i'm going to touch is FF VI, i'm crossing my fingers for that one.
(on that note, I still feel cheated by the so-called "sacrifices" of the cast of FF4).

Tales of Innocence on the other hand.... I'm prayin hard for that one to cross the great blue divide.
Shameless plug, yeah, but ToI propaganda must continue to spread to the far reaches of the net. IIRC, there was a thread on it somewhere round here...

Looks pretty awesome! I never got FF III... I may either have to go get FF III or try this one out. Might depend on the cost, FF III just had a price drop at GameStop.

Innocence looks AMAZING! I've been waiting to get some footage of it. I'll pass up every other DS game I want this year (*Sniff* Even RF 2... well, I'm not sure...) for that one!

Yep I remember posting in the ToI thread. I remember all the events in the FF IV trailer. It was cool seeing them rendered in full 3D. As far as cutscenes go SE really is the best. I really ought to finish FF IV on my GBA, since I'm stuck on the inside of that robot thingy.

Re: Final Fantasy IV DS

It looks great. FFIII was (like it's two predecessors) a hopelessly boring game, so I skipped that one for DS.
But IV on the other hand... Yeah, now we're getting somewhere.

Not a redesign, they just (finally) decided to base the models of Amano's original designs.

I absolutely love Amano's artstyle! Finally getting to see in full 3D action (outside of crappy cutscenes like in the PSone FF remakes)!

Re: Final Fantasy IV DS

I've got the SNES version of this game. I just started it but I've been busy and when I have been playing games, I've been playing FFVI.

This game was higher rated than VI on IGN's top 100 games.

Why don't they remake it on the PS3?

1. It was originally on a Nintendo console to start with.
2. DS is the perfect system for handheld RPG's.
3. Square-Enix is cool that way.
4. PS3 already has some FF stuff going on.

Number 1 doesn't really have any influence, but the second point is right on. Putting it on the DS guarantees big money.
