Best NES games?

My best friend said she was going to get me a NES for my birthday (so that I can complete my collection ) and since my birthdays pretty much crept up on me I was wondering what games you guys reccomended to play on it?

Super Mario Bros. 3 is the best NES game. Period. No other NES games holds its own today as well as SMB3. And please, no one say that LoZ does because it most certainly does not.



Other than that, I can't really recommend any NES game. They are all too outdated, buggy, or frustrating to play.

Super Mario Brothers (the first one). Never gets old, and its a great classic. I also recommend NOT getting anything reviewed badly by tAVGN. T'is be a shame if you do...

Mother and Dragon Quest IV if you're looking for two good RPGs.

well! I would recemend getting metroid, final fantasy, ninja gaiden, and the dragon quest games, these can all be found on ebay for less than $10 each. including shipping. also, hogans alley is a fun little shooting game similar to duck hunt. But obviously you need the zapper for it.

Definantly Castlevania,LOZ,AOL,Metroid and Super Mario Bros.

SMB 3. As someone above listed. It's the best game on the NES. No doubt.

Thanks for the suggestions, I have LoZ and AoL on my GameCube collectors edition but I think I'll get them on NES aswell just for the feeling of playing it on the right console, hehe.

I've been looking at the early Marios, they seem to be great on all platforms!

I was also thinking about cult games (is cult the right word?) y'know games based on films n stuff like Back to the Future and The Terminator =]

Try out River City Ransom if you can find for a cheap price. It's one of my personal favorites, not as good as most of the games listed above though. It's just fun to play, and that's what matters, right?
