video gaming Q&A

It seems to me like the gaming world is monstrous and full of curiousity and wonder. It is very vast and full of unanswered questions. so quite simply, This thread is for posting questions you have about videogames in general and then getting answers. I'll start with a few questions that I have been wondering about.

-from what I have heard, the playstation has a 32bit graphic chip. The gba also has a 32bit graphics chip, so why is it that we havn't seen even close to playstation quality graphics on our gbas?

-this may sound a little silly, but what is the plot in metroid prime? (origanal one, not echoes or corruption) because I got quite far into the game, but it seemed to me like all I was doing was jumping around, killing things, getting new guns, the game didn't really explain why I was doing these things at all. Did I miss something? did I like, skip a cutscene or something that explains all this?

-OKay....I like to play alot of cartridge based games (yeah, I'm a retro gamer) so. Lately I've been noticing on my genesis, gbc, and n64 that alot of cartridge blowing and jiggling is required to get them to play. Is there a safe and surefire way to clean them without taking them apart or buying expensive solutions?

Re: video gaming Q&A

The DS has about the same graohic quality as the Playstation (I think)

Metroid Prime is about how the Chozo were eraticated by phazon and samus destroying the corruption on the planet (you have to read lore to find this out)

And my Sega Genesis does the same (the cartridge blowing) and I have no idea how to fix it.

Now for my question: Why don't stores sell any good Gamecube games anymore?

quite simply, the wii has been out for almost a year now. The companies have stopped producing gamecube games, and what good games there were already made are slowly being bought until there will be no market for gamecube games other than ebay or other online sites

-I was looking at the sega saturn and noticed that behind the CD compartment there apears to be a cartridge slot. So...I guess my question is, does the saturn also play genesis cartridges through this slot?

There's a gamestop here, but all of the games are a ripoff! Mario Cart Double Dash is $30 used! And my dad is completely anti-ebay.

Because there weren't any!

No, it's mainly beacuse the Gamecube wasn't particularly popular in the first place, and now, seeing as it's last-gen, there's practically no profit at all in selling the games first, or even second hand.

Affordable? They're all affordable. Most Gamecube games now-a-days only cost to a maximum of $30 (USD).

Not GameStop, eh? I'd try the mainstream stores. You know, Best Buy, Circuit City, Wal-Mart, occasionally Toys-R-Us, Fry's Electronics (if you live near one).

Then there's the internet. . .
